হে আমার স্বজাতি, আমার উপদেশ শ্রবণ কর, আমার মুখের বাক্যে কর্ণপাত কর।
1
A contemplation by Asaph. Hear my law, my people. Turn your ears to the words of my mouth.
2
আমি দৃষ্টান্তকথায় আপন মুখ খুলিব, আমি পুরাকালের গূঢ় বাক্য সকল ব্যক্ত করিব;
2
I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings of old,
3
সেই সকল আমরা শুনিয়াছি, জ্ঞাত হইয়াছি, আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষেরা আমাদিগকে বলিয়াছেন,

Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.
4
আমরা সে সকল তাঁহাদের সন্তানগণের কাছে গুপ্ত রাখিব না, উত্তরকালীন বংশের কাছে সদাপ্রভুর প্রশংসা বর্ণনা করিব, তাঁহার পরাক্রম ও তাঁহার কৃত আশ্চর্য্য ক্রিয়া সকল বর্ণনা করিব।

We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of Yahweh, His strength, and his wondrous works that he has done.

তিনি যাকোবের মধ্যে সাক্ষ্য দাঁড় করাইয়াছেন, ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে ব্যবস্থা স্থাপন করিয়াছেন; যাহা তিনি আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদিগকে আজ্ঞা দিয়াছিলেন, যেন তাঁহারা আপন আপন সন্তানগণকে তাহা জানান;

For he established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which he commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children;
6
যেন উত্তরকালীন বংশ, [অর্থাৎ] যে সন্তানগণ জন্মিবে, তাহারা তাহা জানিতে পারে, এবং উঠিয়া আপন আপন সন্তানগণের কাছে তাহার বর্ণনা করিতে পারে।

That the generation to come might know, even the children who should be born; Who should arise and tell their children,

যেন তাহারা ঈশ্বরে প্রত্যাশা রাখে, এবং ঈশ্বরের কার্য্য সকল ভুলিয়া না যায়, কিন্তু তাঁহার আজ্ঞা সকল পালন করে;

That they might set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep his commandments,
8
যেন আপন পিতৃপুরুষদের ন্যায় না হয়, যাহারা অবাধ্য ও বিদ্রোহী বংশ ছিল; সেই বংশ আপনাদের চিত্ত স্থির করে নাই, তাহাদের আত্মা ঈশ্বরের প্রতি বিশ্বস্ত ছিল না।

And might not be as their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that didn't make their hearts loyal, Whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

ইফ্রয়িমের সন্তানগণ সসজ্জ ও ধনুর্দ্ধর ছিল, সংগ্রামের দিনে তাহারা হটিয়া গেল।

The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, Turned back in the day of battle.
10
তাহারা ঈশ্বরের নিয়ম পালন করিল না, তাঁহার ব্যবস্থাপথে চলিতে অস্বীকার করিল।

They didn't keep God's covenant, And refused to walk in his law.
11
তাহারা তাঁহার কার্য্য সকল ভুলিয়া গেল, সেই সকল আশ্চর্য্য-কার্য্য, যাহা তিনি তাহাদিগকে দেখাইয়াছিলেন।
11
They forgot his doings, His wondrous works that he had shown them.
12
তিনি তাহাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের সাক্ষাতে নানা আশ্চর্য্য কার্য্য করিয়াছিলেন। মিসর দেশে, সোয়নের মাঠে করিয়াছিলেন।

He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13
তিনি সমুদ্রকে দ্বিধা করিয়া তাহাদিগকে পার করিয়াছিলেন, জলকে স্তূপাকারে দাঁড় করাইয়াছিলেন।
13
He split the sea, and caused them to pass through; He made the waters stand as a heap.
14
তিনি তাহাদিগকে পথ দেখাইতেন, দিবসে মেঘ দ্বারা, এবং সমস্ত রাত্রি অগ্নির আলোক দ্বারা।

In the daytime he also led them with a cloud, And all night with a light of fire.
15
তিনি প্রান্তরমধ্যে শৈল বিদীর্ণ করিলেন, তাহাদিগকে যেন জলধি হইতে প্রচুর জল পান করাইলেন।

He split rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.
16
তিনি শৈল হইতে স্রোত বাহির করিলেন, নদীর ন্যায় জল বহাইলেন।
16
He brought streams also out of the rock, And caused waters to run down like rivers.
17
তখনও তাহারা পুনঃ পুনঃ তাঁহার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করিল, মরুভূমিতে পরাৎপরের বিদ্রোহী হইল;
17
Yet they still went on to sin against him, To rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18
তাহারা মনে মনে ঈশ্বরের পরীক্ষা করিল, আপনাদের অভিলাষ পূরণার্থে ভক্ষ্য চাহিল।
18
They tempted God in their heart By asking food according to their desire.
19
আর তাহারা ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে কথা কহিল, বলিল, ঈশ্বর কি প্রান্তরে মেজ সাজাইয়া দিতে পারেন?

Yes, they spoke against God. They said, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20
দেখ, তিনি শৈলকে আঘাত করিলে জলধারা বহিল, স্রোতোধারা প্রবাহিত হইল; তিনি কি অন্নও দিতে পারেন? আপন প্রজাদের জন্য কি মাংস যোগাইবেন?
20
Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, Streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide flesh for his people?"
21
অতএব সদাপ্রভু তাহা শুনিয়া ক্রোধান্বিত হইলেন; যাকোবের বিরুদ্ধে অগ্নি প্রজ্বলিত হইল, ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে কোপ উঠিল;

Therefore Yahweh heard, and was angry. A fire was kindled against Jacob, Anger also went up against Israel,
22
কেননা তাহারা ঈশ্বরে বিশ্বাস করিত না, তাঁহার পরিত্রাণে নির্ভর করিত না।
22
Because they didn't believe in God, And didn't trust in his salvation.
23
তবু তিনি উপরিস্থ মেঘমালাকে আজ্ঞা দিলেন, আকাশমণ্ডলের দ্বার সকল খুলিয়া দিলেন।
23
Yet he commanded the skies above, And opened the doors of heaven.
24
তিনি ভক্ষ্যের জন্য তাহাদের উপরে মান্না বর্ষণ করিলেন, তাহাদিগকে স্বর্গের শস্য দিলেন।
24
He rained down manna on them to eat, And gave them food from the sky.
25
মনুষ্য পরাক্রমীদের খাদ্য ভোজন করিল; তিনি তাহাদের তৃপ্তি পর্য্যন্ত ভক্ষ্য পাঠাইলেন।
25
Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full.
26
তিনি আকাশে পূর্ব্ব বায়ু বহাইলেন, নিজ পরাক্রমে দক্ষিণ বায়ু চালাইলেন।
26
He caused the east wind to blow in the sky. By his power he guided the south wind.
27
তিনি তাহাদের উপরে মাংসকে ধূলির ন্যায়, পক্ষধারী বিহঙ্গকে সমুদ্রের বালির ন্যায় বর্ষণ করিলেন।
27
He rained also flesh on them as the dust; Winged birds as the sand of the seas.
28
তিনি তাহা তাহাদের শিবিরের মধ্যে, তাহাদের আবাসসমূহের চারিপার্শ্বে, পড়িতে দিলেন।
28
He let them fall in the midst of their camp, Around their habitations.
29
তখন তাহারা ভোজন করিয়া পরিতৃপ্ত হইল; তিনি তাহাদের অভীষ্ট বস্তু তাহাদিগকে দিলেন;
29
So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire.
30
তাহারা আপনাদের অভীষ্ট দ্রব্য ছাড়ে নাই, তাহাদের খাদ্য তাহাদের মুখেই ছিল,
30
They didn't turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,
31
তখন তাহাদের বিরুদ্ধে ঈশ্বরের কোপ উঠিল, তাহা তাহাদের হৃষ্টপুষ্টগণকে সংহার করিল, ইস্রায়েলের যুবকগণকে পাড়িয়া ফেলিল।

When the anger of God went up against them, Killed some of the fattest of them, And struck down the young men of Israel.
32
এ সমস্ত হইলেও তাহারা পুনর্ব্বার পাপ করিল, ও তাঁহার আশ্চর্য্য ক্রিয়াতে বিশ্বাস করিল না।
32
For all this they still sinned, And didn't believe in his wondrous works.
33
অতএব তিনি তাহাদের আয়ু অসারতায়, তাহাদের বৎসর সকল বিহ্বলতায়, শেষ করিলেন।
33
Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, And their years in terror.
34
তিনি লোকদিগকে বধ করিলে তাহারা তাঁহার অনুসন্ধান করিল, ফিরিয়া সযত্নে ঈশ্বরের অন্বেষণ করিল;

When he killed them, then they inquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly.
35
তাহাদের স্মরণ হইল, ঈশ্বর তাহাদের শৈল, পরাৎপর ঈশ্বর তাহাদের মুক্তিদাতা।
35
They remembered that God was their rock, The Most High God their redeemer.
36
কিন্তু তাহারা মুখে তাঁহার চাটুবাদ করিল, জিহ্বাতে তাঁহার নিকটে মিথ্যা কহিল;
36
But they flattered him with their mouth, And lied to him with their tongue.
37
কারণ তাহাদের হৃদয় তাঁহার প্রতি স্থির ছিল না, তাহারা তাঁহার নিয়মেও বিশ্বস্ত ছিল না।
37
For their heart was not right with him, Neither were they faithful in his covenant.
38
কিন্তু তিনি স্নেহময়, তাই অপরাধ ক্ষমা করিলেন, ধ্বংস করিলেন না, অনেকবার আপন ক্রোধ সম্বরণ করিলেন, আপনার সমস্ত কোপ উদ্দীপিত করিলেন না।

But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn't destroy them. Yes, many times he turned his anger away, And didn't stir up all his wrath.
39
তিনি স্মরণ করিলেন যে, তাহারা মাংস মাত্র, বায়ুস্বরূপ, যাহা বহিয়া গেলে আর ফিরিয়া আইসে না।

He remembered that they were but flesh, A wind that passes away, and doesn't come again.
40
তাহারা প্রান্তরে কতবার তাঁহার বিরুদ্ধে দ্রোহ করিল, মরুভূমিতে কতবার তাঁহাকে মনঃপীড়া দিল।
40
How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, And grieved him in the desert!
41
তাহারা ফিরিয়া ঈশ্বরের পরীক্ষা করিল, ইস্রায়েলের পবিত্রতমকে অসন্তুষ্ট করিল।
41
They turned again and tempted God, And provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42
তাহারা তাঁহার হস্ত স্মরণ করিল না, সেই দিনকে স্মরণ করিল না, যে দিনে তিনি তাহাদিগকে বিপক্ষের হস্ত হইতে মুক্ত করিলেন।

They didn't remember his hand, Nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;
43
তিনি মিসরে আপন চিহ্ন সকল, সোয়নের মাঠে আপন অদ্ভুত লক্ষণ সকল, স্থাপন করিলেন।

How he set his signs in Egypt, His wonders in the field of Zoan,
44
তিনি রক্তে পরিণত করিলেন তাহাদের নদী সকল, তাহাদের প্রবাহ সকল, তাই তাহারা জল পান করিতে পারিল না।
44
Turned their rivers into blood, And their streams, so that they could not drink.
45
তিনি তাহাদের মধ্যে গ্রাসকারী দংশক, ও বিনাশকারী ভেক প্রেরণ করিলেন।
45
He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; And frogs, which destroyed them.
46
তিনি গুটিপোকাকে তাহাদের ভূমির দ্রব্য, পঙ্গপালকে তাহাদের শ্রমফল দিলেন।
46
He gave also their increase to the caterpillar, And their labor to the locust.
47
তিনি শিলা দ্বারা তাহাদের দ্রাক্ষালতা, করকাপাতে তাহাদের ডুমুর গাছ মারিয়া ফেলিলেন।
47
He destroyed their vines with hail, Their sycamore-fig trees with frost.
48
তিনি তাহাদের পশুগণকে শিলাতে, পাল সকলকে বজ্রাঘাতে সমর্পণ করিলেন।

He gave over their cattle also to the hail, And their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49
তিনি তাহাদের বিরুদ্ধে পাঠাইলেন আপন প্রচণ্ড ক্রোধ, কোপ, ও রোষ, ও সঙ্কট, অমঙ্গলের এই দূতদল।

He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, Wrath, indignation, and trouble, And a band of angels of evil.
50
তিনি নিজ ক্রোধের জন্য পথ করিলেন, মৃত্যু হইতে তাহাদের প্রাণ রক্ষা করেন নাই; কিন্তু তাহাদের জীবন মহামারীর হস্তে দিলেন।

He made a path for his anger. He didn't spare their soul from death, But gave their life over to the pestilence,
51
তিনি আঘাত করিলেন মিসরে সমস্ত প্রথমজাতকে, হামের তাম্বুসমূহে তাহাদের শক্তির প্রথম ফলকে;
51
And struck all the firstborn in Egypt, The chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52
কিন্তু আপন প্রজাদিগকে মেষবৎ চালাইলেন, পালের মত প্রান্তর দিয়া লইয়া আসিলেন।
52
But he led forth his own people like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53
তিনি তাহাদিগকে নিরাপদে লইয়া আসিলেন, তাহারা উদ্বিগ্ন হইল না, কিন্তু সমুদ্র তাহাদের শত্রুগণকে আচ্ছাদন করিল।

He led them safely, so that they weren't afraid, But the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

আর তিনি তাহাদিগকে আনিলেন, আপন পবিত্র সীমায়, আপন দক্ষিণ হস্ত দ্বারা লব্ধ এই পর্ব্বতে।

He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, To this mountain, which his right hand had taken.
55
তিনি তাহাদের সম্মুখ হইতে জাতিগণকে দূর করিলেন, মানরজ্জু দ্বারা অধিকার বিভাগ করিয়া তাহাদিগকে দিলেন, ইস্রায়েলের বংশদিগকে উহাদের তাম্বুতে বাস করাইলেন।

He also drove out the nations before them, Allotted them for an inheritance by line, And made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

তথাপি তাহারা পরাৎপর ঈশ্বরের পরীক্ষা করিল, তাঁহার বিদ্রোহী হইল, তাঁহার সাক্ষ্য সকল পালন করিল না।

Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, And didn't keep his testimonies;
57
তাহারা সরিয়া গেল, তাহাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের ন্যায় বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করিল; তাহারা বঞ্চক ধনুকের ন্যায় পার্শ্বে ফিরিল।

But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58
কারণ তাহারা আপনাদের উচ্চস্থলীসমূহের দ্বারা তাঁহাকে অসন্তুষ্ট করিল, আপনাদের ক্ষোদিত প্রতিমাগণ দ্বারা তাঁহার অন্তর্জ্বালা জন্মাইল।

For they provoked him to anger with their high places, And moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.
59
ঈশ্বর তাহা শুনিয়া ক্রোধান্বিত হইলেন, ইস্রায়েলকে অতিমাত্র ঘৃণা করিলেন।

When God heard this, he was angry, And greatly abhorred Israel;
60
তিনি শীলোস্থিত আবাস ত্যাগ করিলেন, সেই তাম্বু, যাহা তিনি মনুষ্যদের মধ্যে স্থাপন করিয়াছিলেন।
60
So that he forsook the tent of Shiloh, The tent which he placed among men;
61
তিনি আপন বল বন্দিদশায়, আপন শোভা বিপক্ষের হস্তে দিলেন।
61
And delivered his strength into captivity, His glory into the adversary's hand.
62
তিনি আপন প্রজাদিগকে খড়্গের হস্তগত করিলেন, আপন অধিকারের প্রতি ক্রুদ্ধ হইলেন।
62
He also gave his people over to the sword, And was angry with his inheritance.
63
অগ্নি তাহাদের যুবকগণকে গ্রাস করিল, তাহাদের কন্যাগণের পরিণয়-সঙ্গীত হইল না।

Fire devoured their young men; Their virgins had no wedding song.
64
তাহাদের যাজকগণ খড়্গে পতিত হইল, তাহাদের বিধবারা রোদন করিল না।
64
Their priests fell by the sword, And their widows couldn't weep.
65
তখন প্রভু জাগিলেন, সুপ্তোত্থিতের ন্যায়, দ্রাক্ষারসে হর্ষনাদকারী বীরের ন্যায়।
65
Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, Like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine.
66
তিনি আপন বিপক্ষ লোকদিগকে মারিয়া ফিরাইয়া দিলেন, তাহাদিগকে চিরকালীন তিরস্কারের পাত্র করিলেন।

He struck his adversaries backward. He put them to a perpetual reproach.
67
আর তিনি যোষেফের তাম্বু অগ্রাহ্য করিলেন, ইফ্রয়িমের বংশকে মনোনীত করিলেন না;
67
Moreover he rejected the tent of Joseph, And didn't choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68
কিন্তু মনোনীত করিলেন যিহূদার বংশকে, ও আপনার প্রিয় সিয়োন পর্ব্বতকে।
68
But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which he loved.
69
তিনি আপন ধর্ম্মধাম নির্ম্মাণ করিলেন, উচ্চ শিখরের ন্যায়, পৃথিবীর ন্যায়, যাহা তিনি চিরতরে স্থাপন করিয়াছেন।

He built his sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which he has established forever.
70
তিনি আপন দাস দায়ূদকে মনোনীত করিলেন, তাঁহাকে মেষের খোঁয়াড় হইতে গ্রহণ করিলেন;
70
He also chose David his servant, And took him from the sheepfolds;
71
তিনি স্তন্যদাত্রী মেষীদের পশ্চাৎ হইতে তাঁহাকে আনিলেন, আপন প্রজা যাকোবকে ও আপন অধিকার ইস্রায়েলকে চরাইতে দিলেন।

From following the ewes that have their young, He brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob, his people, And Israel, his inheritance.
72
আর উনি হৃদয়ের সিদ্ধতানুসারে তাহাদিগকে চরাইলেন, আপন হস্তের দক্ষতায় তাহাদিগকে চালাইলেন।

So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
