1বৎস, তুমি যদি আমার কথা সকল গ্রহণ কর, যদি আমার আজ্ঞা সকল তোমার কাছে সঞ্চয় কর,
1My son, if you will receive my words, And store up my commandments within you;
2যদি প্রজ্ঞার দিকে কর্ণপাত কর, যদি বুদ্ধিতে মনোনিবেশ কর;
2So as to turn your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding;
3হাঁ, যদি সুবিবেচনাকে আহ্বান কর, যদি বুদ্ধির জন্য উচ্চৈঃস্বর কর;
3Yes, if you call out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding;
4যদি রৌপ্যের ন্যায় তাহার অন্বেষণ কর, গুপ্ত ধনের ন্যায় তাহার অনুসন্ধান কর;
4If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures:
5তবে সদাপ্রভুর ভয় বুঝিতে পারিবে, ঈশ্বরবিষয়ক জ্ঞান প্রাপ্ত হইবে।
5Then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, And find the knowledge of God.
6কেননা সদাপ্রভুই প্রজ্ঞা দান করেন, তাঁহারই মুখ হইতে জ্ঞান ও বুদ্ধি নির্গত হয়।
6For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
7তিনি সরলদিগের জন্য সূক্ষ্ম বুদ্ধি রাখেন, যাহারা সিদ্ধতায় চলে, তিনি তাহাদের ঢাল।
7He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity;
8তিনি বিচারের মার্গ সকল রক্ষা করেন, আপন সাধুদের পথ সংরক্ষণ করেন।
8That he may guard the paths of justice, And preserve the way of his saints.
9অতএব তুমি ধার্ম্মিকতা ও বিচার বুঝিবে, ন্যায় ও সমস্ত উত্তম পথ বুঝিবে।
9Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path.
10কেননা প্রজ্ঞা তোমার হৃদয়ে প্রবেশ করিবে, জ্ঞান তোমার প্রাণের তুষ্টি জন্মাইবে,
10For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11পরিণামদর্শিতা তোমার প্রহরী হইবে, বুদ্ধি তোমাকে রক্ষা করিবে;
11Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you,
12যেন তোমাকে উদ্ধার করে দুষ্টের পথ হইতে, সেই সকল লোক হইতে, যাহারা কুটিল বাক্য বলে,
12To deliver you from the way of evil, From the men who speak perverse things;
13যাহারা সরলতার পথ ত্যাগ করে, অন্ধকার-মার্গে চলিবার নিমিত্ত;
13Who forsake the paths of uprightness, To walk in the ways of darkness;
14যাহারা কুক্রিয়াসাধনে আনন্দিত হয়, দুষ্টতার কুটিলতায় উল্লাসিত হয়;
14Who rejoice to do evil, And delight in the perverseness of evil;
15যাহারা বক্র পথের পথিক, আপন আপন আচরণে বিপথগামী।
15Who are crooked in their ways, And wayward in their paths:
16সে তোমাকে উদ্ধার করিবে পরকীয়া স্ত্রী হইতে, সেই চাটুবাদিনী বিজাতীয়া হইতে,
16To deliver you from the strange woman, Even from the foreigner who flatters with her words;
17সে যৌবনকালের মিত্রকে ত্যাগ করে, আপন ঈশ্বরের নিয়ম ভুলিয়া যায়;
17Who forsakes the friend of her youth, And forgets the covenant of her God:
18কেননা উহার বাটী মৃত্যুর দিকে অবনত, উহার পথ প্রেতলোকের দিকে অবনত;
18For her house leads down to death, Her paths to the dead.
19যাহারা উহার কাছে যায়, তাহারা আর ফিরে না, তাহারা জীবনের পথ পায় না;
19None who go to her return again, Neither do they attain to the paths of life:
20যেন তুমি সুশীলদের মার্গে চলিতে পার, যেন ধার্ম্মিকগণের পথ অবলম্বন কর;
20That you may walk in the way of good men, And keep the paths of the righteous.
21কেননা সরলগণ দেশে বাস করিবে, সিদ্ধেরা তথায় অবশিষ্ট থাকিবে।
21For the upright will dwell in the land. The perfect will remain in it.
22কিন্তু দুষ্টগণ দেশ হইতে উচ্ছিন্ন হইবে, বিশ্বাসঘাতকেরা তথা হইতে উন্মূলিত হইবে।
22But the wicked will be cut off from the land. The treacherous will be rooted out of it.
