[1] পরে তিনি নৌকায় উঠিয়া পার হইলেন, এবং নিজ নগরে আসিলেন। আর দেখ, কয়েকটী লোক তাঁহার নিকটে এক জন পক্ষাঘাতীকে আনিল, সে খাটের উপরে শয়ান ছিল।

He entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city.

যীশু তাহাদের বিশ্বাস দেখিয়া সেই পক্ষাঘাতীকে কহিলেন, বৎস, সাহস কর, তোমার পাপ ক্ষমা হইল।
2
Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you."

আর দেখ, কয়েক জন অধ্যাপক মনে মনে কহিল, এ ব্যক্তি ঈশ্বর-নিন্দা করিতেছে।

Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man blasphemes."

তখন যীশু তাহাদের চিন্তা বুঝিয়া কহিলেন, তোমরা কেন মনে মনে কুচিন্তা করিতেছ?

Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?
5
কারণ কোন্টা সহজ, ‘তোমার পাপ ক্ষমা হইল’ বলা, না ‘তুমি উঠিয়া বেড়াও’ বলা?

For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven;' or to say, 'Get up, and walk?'

কিন্তু পৃথিবীতে পাপ ক্ষমা করিতে মনুষ্যপুত্রের ক্ষমতা আছে, ইহা যেন তোমরা জানিতে পার, এই জন্য — তিনি সেই পক্ষাঘাতীকে বলিলেন — উঠ, তোমার শয্যা তুলিয়া লও, এবং তোমার ঘরে চলিয়া যাও।

But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..." (then he said to the paralytic), "Get up, and take up your mat, and go up to your house."

তখন সে উঠিয়া আপন গৃহে চলিয়া গেল।

He arose and departed to his house.

তাহা দেখিয়া লোকসমূহ ভীত হইল, আর ঈশ্বর মনুষ্যকে এমন ক্ষমতা দিয়াছেন বলিয়া তাহার গৌরব করিল।

But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.

আর সে স্থান হইতে যাইতে যাইতে যীশু দেখিলেন, মথি নামক এক ব্যক্তি করগ্রহণ-স্থানে বসিয়া আছে; তিনি তাহাকে কহিলেন, আমার পশ্চাৎ আইস। তাহাতে সে উঠিয়া তাঁহার পশ্চাৎ গমন করিল।

As Jesus passed by from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax collection office. He said to him, "Follow me." He got up and followed him.

পরে তিনি গৃহমধ্যে ভোজন করিতে বসিয়াছেন, আর দেখ, অনেক করগ্রাহী ও পাপী আসিয়া যীশুর এবং তাঁহার শিষ্যদের সহিত বসিল।

It happened as he sat in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.

তাহা দেখিয়া ফরীশীরা তাঁহার শিষ্যদিগকে কহিল, তোমাদের গুরু কি জন্য করগ্রাহী ও পাপীদের সহিত ভোজন করেন?

When the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

তাহা শুনিয়া তিনি কহিলেন, সুস্থ লোকদের চিকিৎসকে প্রয়োজন নাই, বরং পীড়িতদেরই প্রয়োজন আছে।

When Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.
13
কিন্তু তোমরা গিয়া শিক্ষা কর, এই বচনের মর্ম্ম কি, “আমি দয়াই চাই, বলিদান নয়”; কেননা আমি ধার্ম্মিকদিগকে নয়, কিন্তু পাপীদিগকে ডাকিতে আসিয়াছি।

But you go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

তখন যোহনের শিষ্যগণ তাঁহার নিকটে আসিয়া কহিল, ফরীশীরা ও আমরা অনেক বার উপবাস করি, কিন্তু আপনার শিষ্যগণ উপবাস করে না, ইহার কারণ কি?

Then John's disciples came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples don't fast?"
15
যীশু তাঁহাদিগকে কহিলেন, বর সঙ্গে থাকিতে কি বাসরঘরের লোকে বিলাপ করিতে পারে? কিন্তু এমন সময় আসিবে, যখন তাহাদের নিকট হইতে বর নীত হইবেন; তখন তাহারা উপবাস করিবে।

Jesus said to them, "Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
16
পুরাতন বস্ত্রে কেহ কোরা কাপড়ের তালী দেয় না, কেননা তাহার তালীতে বস্ত্র ছিঁড়িয়া যায়, এবং আরও মন্দ ছিদ্র হয়।

No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch would tear away from the garment, and a worse hole is made.
17
আর লোকে পুরাতন কুপায় নূতন দ্রাক্ষারস রাখে না; রাখিলে কুপাগুলি ফাটিয়া যায়, তাহাতে দ্রাক্ষারস পড়িয়া যায়, কুপাগুলিও নষ্ট হয়; কিন্তু লোকে নূতন কুপাতেই টাট্কা দ্রাক্ষারস রাখে, তাহাতে উভয়েরই রক্ষা হয়।

Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins, or else the skins would burst, and the wine be spilled, and the skins ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."

তিনি তাহাদিগকে এই সকল কথা বলিতেছেন, আর দেখ, এক জন অধ্যক্ষ আসিয়া তাঁহাকে প্রণাম করিয়া কহিলেন, আমার কন্যাটী এতক্ষণ মরিয়া গিয়াছে; কিন্তু আপনি আসিয়া তাহার উপরে হস্তার্পণ করুন, তাহাতে সে বাঁচিবে।

While he told these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live."
19
তখন যীশু উঠিয়া তাঁহার পশ্চাৎ গমন করিলেন, তাঁহার শিষ্যগণও চলিলেন।

Jesus got up and followed him, as did his disciples.
20
আর দেখ, বারো বৎসর অবধি প্রদর রোগগ্রস্ত একটী স্ত্রীলোক তাঁহার পশ্চাৎ দিকে আসিয়া তাঁহার বস্ত্রের থোপ স্পর্শ করিল;

Behold, a woman who had an issue of blood for twelve years came behind him, and touched the tassels of his garment;
21
কারণ সে মনে মনে বলিতেছিল, উহাঁর বস্ত্রমাত্র স্পর্শ করিতে পারিলেই আমি সুস্থ হইব।
21
for she said within herself, "If I just touch his garment, I will be made well."
22
তখন যীশু মুখ ফিরাইয়া তাহাকে দেখিয়া কহিলেন, বৎসে, সাহস কর, তোমার বিশ্বাস তোমাকে সুস্থ করিল। সেই দণ্ড অবধি স্ত্রীলোকটী সুস্থ হইল।

But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, "Daughter, cheer up! Your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.
23
পরে যীশু সেই অধ্যক্ষের বাটীতে আসিয়া যখন দেখিলেন, বংশীবাদকগণ রহিয়াছে, ও লোকেরা কোলাহল করিতেছে,

When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd in noisy disorder,
24
তখন বলিলেন, সরিয়া যাও, কন্যাটী ত মরে নাই, ঘুমাইয়া রহিয়াছে। তখন তাহারা তাঁহাকে উপহাস করিল।

he said to them, "Make room, because the girl isn't dead, but sleeping." They were ridiculing him.
25
কিন্তু লোকদিগকে বাহির করিয়া দেওয়া হইলে তিনি ভিতরে গিয়া কন্যাটীর হাত ধরিলেন, তাহাতে সে উঠিল।

But when the crowd was put out, he entered in, took her by the hand, and the girl arose.
26
আর এই জনরব সেই দেশময় ব্যাপিল।

The report of this went out into all that land.
27
পরে যীশু সেখান হইতে প্রস্থান করিলে, দুই জন অন্ধ তাঁহার পশ্চাৎ পশ্চাৎ চলিল; তাহারা চেঁচাইয়া বলিতে লাগিল, হে দায়ূদ-সন্তান, আমাদের প্রতি দয়া করুন।

As Jesus passed by from there, two blind men followed him, calling out and saying, "Have mercy on us, son of David!"
28
তিনি গৃহমধ্যে প্রবেশ করিলে পর সেই অন্ধেরা তাঁহার নিকটে আসিল; তখন যীশু তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, তোমরা কি বিশ্বাস কর যে, আমি ইহা করিতে পারি? তাহারা তাঁহাকে বলিল, হাঁ, প্রভু।

When he had come into the house, the blind men came to him. Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They told him, "Yes, Lord."
29
তখন তিনি তাহাদের চক্ষু স্পর্শ করিলেন, আর কহিলেন, তোমাদের বিশ্বাস অনুসারে তোমাদের প্রতি হউক।

Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you."
30
তখন তাহাদের চক্ষু খুলিয়া গেল। আর যীশু তাহাদিগকে দৃঢ়রূপে নিষেধ করিয়া দিলেন, কহিলেন, দেখিও, যেন কেহ ইহা জানিতে না পায়।

Their eyes were opened. Jesus strictly charged them, saying, "See that no one knows about this."
31
কিন্তু তাহারা বাহিরে গিয়া সেই দেশময় তাঁহার কীর্ত্তি প্রকাশ করিল।

But they went out and spread abroad his fame in all that land.
32
তাহারা বাহিরে যাইতেছে, আর দেখ, লোকেরা এক ভূতগ্রস্ত গোঁগাকে তাঁহার নিকটে আনিল।
32
As they went out, behold, a mute man who was demon possessed was brought to him.
33
ভূত ছাড়ান হইলে সেই গোঁগা কথা কহিতে লাগিল; তখন লোক সকল আশ্চর্য্য জ্ঞান করিয়া কহিল, ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে এমন কখনও দেখা যায় নাই।

When the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. The multitudes marveled, saying, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!"
34
কিন্তু ফরীশীরা বলিতে লাগিল, ভূতগণের অধিপতি দ্বারা সে ভূত ছাড়ায়।

But the Pharisees said, "By the prince of the demons, he casts out demons."
35
আর যীশু সমস্ত নগরে ও গ্রামে ভ্রমণ করিতে লাগিলেন; তিনি লোকদের সমাজ-গৃহে উপদেশ দিলেন ও রাজ্যের সুসমাচার প্রচার করিলেন, এবং সর্ব্বপ্রকার রোগ ও সর্ব্বপ্রকার ব্যাধি আরোগ্য করিলেন।

Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

কিন্তু বিস্তর লোক দেখিয়া তিনি তাহাদের প্রতি করুণাবিষ্ট হইলেন, কেননা তাহারা ব্যাকুল ও ছিন্নভিন্ন ছিল, যেন পালকবিহীন মেষপাল।

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd.
37
তখন তিনি আপন শিষ্যদিগকে কহিলেন, শস্য প্রচুর বটে, কিন্তু কার্য্যকারী লোক অল্প;
37
Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
38
অতএব শস্যক্ষেত্রের স্বামীর নিকটে প্রার্থনা কর, যেন তিনি নিজ শস্যক্ষেত্রে কার্য্যকারী লোক পাঠাইয়া দেন।

Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest."
