কেননা স্বর্গ-রাজ্য এমন এক জন গৃহকর্ত্তার তুল্য, যিনি প্রভাত কালে আপন দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেত্রে মজুর লাগাইবার জন্য বাহিরে গেলেন।

"For the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who was the master of a household, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.

তিনি মজুরদের সহিত দিন এক সিকি বেতন স্থির করিয়া তাহাদিগকে আপন দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেত্রে প্রেরণ করিলেন।

When he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

পরে তিনি তিন ঘটিকার সময়ে বাহিরে গিয়া দেখিলেন, অন্য কয়েক জন বাজারে নিষ্কর্ম্মে দাঁড়াইয়া আছে,

He went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace.

এবং তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, তোমরাও দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেত্রে যাও, যাহা ন্যায্য, তোমাদিগকে দিব; তাহাতে তাহারা গেল।

To them he said, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went their way.

আবার তিনি ছয় ও নয় ঘটিকার সময়েও বাহিরে গিয়া তদ্রূপ করিলেন।

Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.

পরে এগার ঘটিকার সময়ে বাহিরে গিয়া আর কয়েক জনকে দাঁড়াইয়া থাকিতে দেখিলেন, আর তাহাদিগকে বলিলেন, কি জন্য সমস্ত দিন এখানে নিষ্কর্ম্মে দাঁড়াইয়া আছ?

About the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle. He said to them, 'Why do you stand here all day idle?'

তাহারা তাঁহাকে বলিল, কেহই আমাদিগকে কাজে লাগায় নাই। তিনি তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, তোমরাও দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেত্রে যাও।

"They said to him, 'Because no one has hired us.' "He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and you will receive whatever is right.'

পরে সন্ধ্যা হইলে সেই দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেত্রের কর্ত্তা আপন দেওয়ানকে কহিলেন, মজুরদিগকে ডাকিয়া মজুরী দেও, শেষ জন হইতে আরম্ভ করিয়া প্রথম জন পর্য্যন্ত দেও।

When evening had come, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning from the last to the first.'

তাহাতে যাহারা এগার ঘটিকার সময়ে লাগিয়াছিল, তাহারা আসিয়া এক এক জন এক এক সিকি পাইল।

"When those who were hired at about the eleventh hour came, they each received a denarius.
10
পরে যাহারা প্রথমে লাগিয়াছিল, তাহারা আসিয়া মনে করিল, আমরা বেশী পাইব; কিন্তু তাহারাও এক এক সিকি পাইল।

When the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise each received a denarius.
11
পাইয়া তাহারা সেই গৃহকর্ত্তার বিরুদ্ধে বচসা করিয়া কহিতে লাগিল,

When they received it, they murmured against the master of the household,

শেষের ইহারা ত এক ঘন্টামাত্র খাটিয়াছে, আমরা সমস্ত দিন খাটিয়াছি ও রৌদ্রে পুড়িয়াছি, আপনি ইহাদিগকে আমাদের সমান করিলেন।

saying, 'These last have spent one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat!'

তিনি উত্তর করিয়া তাহাদের এক জনকে কহিলেন, বন্ধু হে! আমি তোমার প্রতি কিছু অন্যায় করি নাই; তুমি কি আমার নিকটে এক সিকিতে স্বীকার কর নাই?

"But he answered one of them, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Didn't you agree with me for a denarius?
14
তোমার যাহা পাওনা, তাহা লইয়া চলিয়া যাও; আমার ইচ্ছা, তোমাকে যাহা, ঐ শেষের জনকেও তাহাই দিব।

Take that which is yours, and go your way. It is my desire to give to this last just as much as to you.
15
আমার নিজের যাহা, তাহা আপনার ইচ্ছামতে ব্যবহার করিবার অধিকার কি আমার নাই? না আমি দয়ালু বলিয়া তোমার চোখ টাটাইতেছে?

Isn't it lawful for me to do what I want to with what I own? Or is your eye evil, because I am good?'
16
এইরূপে যাহারা শেষের, তাহারা প্রথম হইবে, এবং যাহারা প্রথম, তাহারা শেষে পড়িবে।

So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few are chosen."

পরে যখন যীশু যিরূশালেমে যাইতে উদ্যত হইলেন, তখন তিনি সেই বারো জন শিষ্যকে বিরলে লইয়া গেলেন, আর পথিমধ্যে তাঁহাদিগকে কহিলেন,

As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them,
18
দেখ, আমরা যিরূশালেমে যাইতেছি; আর মনুষ্যপুত্র প্রধান যাজকদের ও অধ্যাপকদের হস্তে সমর্পিত হইবেন;

"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death,
19
তাহারা তাঁহার প্রাণদণ্ড বিধান করিবে, এবং বিদ্রূপ করিবার, কোড়া মারিবার ও ক্রুশে দিবার জন্য পরজাতীয়দের হস্তে তাঁহাকে সমর্পণ করিবে; পরে তিনি তৃতীয় দিবসে উঠিবেন।

and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock, to scourge, and to crucify; and the third day he will be raised up."
20
তখন সিবদিয়ের পুত্রদের মাতা আপনার দুই পুত্রকে সঙ্গে লইয়া তাঁহার নিকটে আসিয়া প্রণিপাত পূর্ব্বক তাঁহার কাছে কিছু যাচ্ঞা করিলেন।

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, kneeling and asking a certain thing of him.
21
তিনি তাঁহাকে কহিলেন, তুমি কি চাও? তিনি কহিলেন, আজ্ঞা করুন, যেন আপনার রাজ্যে আমার এই দুই পুত্রের এক জন আপনার দক্ষিণ পার্শ্বে, আর এক জন বাম পার্শ্বে, বসিতে পায়।

He said to her, "What do you want?" She said to him, "Command that these, my two sons, may sit, one on your right hand, and one on your left hand, in your kingdom."

কিন্তু যীশু উত্তর করিয়া কহিলেন, তোমরা কি যাচ্ঞা করিতেছ, তাহা বুঝ না; আমি যে পাত্রে পান করিতে যাইতেছি, তাহাতে কি তোমরা পান করিতে পার? তাঁহারা বলিলেন, পারি।

But Jesus answered, "You don't know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to him, "We are able."
23
তিনি তাঁহাদিগকে কহিলেন, তোমরা আমার পাত্রে পান করিবে বটে, কিন্তু যাহাদের জন্য আমার পিতা কর্ত্তৃক স্থান প্রস্তুত করা হইয়াছে, তাহাদের ভিন্ন আর কাহাকেও আমার দক্ষিণ পার্শ্বে ও বাম পার্শ্বে বসিতে দিতে আমার অধিকার নাই।

He said to them, "You will indeed drink my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with, but to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it is for whom it has been prepared by my Father."

এই কথা শুনিয়া অন্য দশ জন ঐ দুই ভ্রাতার প্রতি রুষ্ট হইলেন।

When the ten heard it, they were indignant with the two brothers.
25
কিন্তু যীশু তাঁহাদিগকে নিকটে ডাকিয়া কহিলেন, তোমরা জান, পরজাতীয়দের অধিপতিরা তাহাদের উপরে প্রভুত্ব করে, এবং যাহারা মহান্, তাহারা তাহাদের উপরে কর্ত্তৃত্ব করে।

But Jesus summoned them, and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.
26
তোমাদের মধ্যে সেরূপ হইবে না; কিন্তু তোমাদের মধ্যে যে কেহ মহান্ হইতে চায়, সে তোমাদের পরিচারক হইবে;
26
It shall not be so among you, but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.
27
এবং তোমাদের মধ্যে যে কেহ প্রধান হইতে চায়, সে তোমাদের দাস হইবে;
27
Whoever desires to be first among you shall be your bondservant,
28
যেমন মনুষ্যপুত্র পরিচর্য্যা পাইতে আইসেন নাই, কিন্তু পরিচর্য্যা করিতে, এবং অনেকের পরিবর্ত্তে আপন প্রাণ মুক্তির মূল্যরূপে দিতে আসিয়াছেন।

even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
29
পরে যিরীহো হইতে তাঁহাদের বাহির হইবার সময়ে বিস্তর লোক তাঁহার পশ্চাৎ পশ্চাৎ গমন করিল।

As they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
30
আর দেখ, দুই জন অন্ধ পথের পার্শ্বে বসিয়াছিল; সেই পথ দিয়া যীশু যাইতেছেন শুনিয়া তাহারা চেঁচাইয়া কহিল, প্রভু, দায়ূদ-সন্তান, আমাদের প্রতি দয়া করুন।

Behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, "Lord, have mercy on us, you son of David!"
31
তাহাতে লোক সকল চুপ্ চুপ্ বলিয়া তাহাদিগকে ধমক্ দিল; কিন্তু তাহারা আরও অধিক চেঁচাইয়া বলিল, প্রভু, দায়ূদ-সন্তান, আমাদের প্রতি দয়া করুন।

The multitude rebuked them, telling them that they should be quiet, but they cried out even more, "Lord, have mercy on us, you son of David!"
32
তখন যীশু থামিয়া তাহাদিগকে ডাকিলেন, আর বলিলেন, তোমরা কি চাও? আমি তোমাদের জন্য কি করিব?

Jesus stood still, and called them, and asked, "What do you want me to do for you?"
33
তাহারা তাঁহাকে কহিল, প্রভু, আমাদের চক্ষু যেন খুলিয়া যায়।
33
They told him, "Lord, that our eyes may be opened."
34
তখন যীশু করুণাবিষ্ট হইয়া তাহাদের চক্ষু স্পর্শ করিলেন, আর তখনই তাহারা দেখিতে পাইল ও তাঁহার পশ্চাৎ পশ্চাৎ চলিল।

Jesus, being moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes received their sight, and they followed him.
