1পরে যিহোশূয় প্রত্যূষে উঠিয়া সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানের সহিত শিটীম হইতে যাত্রা করিয়া যর্দ্দন সমীপে উপস্থিত হইলেন, কিন্তু তখন পার না হইয়া সে স্থানে রাত্রি যাপন করিলেন।
1Joshua rose up early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel; and they lodged there before they passed over.
2তিন দিনের পর অধ্যক্ষগণ শিবিরের মধ্য দিয়া গেলেন;
2It happened after three days, that the officers went through the midst of the camp;
3তাঁহারা লোকদিগকে এই আজ্ঞা করিলেন; তোমরা যে সময়ে তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর নিয়ম-সিন্দুক, ও লেবীয় যাজকগণকে তাহা বহন করিতে দেখিবে, তৎকালে আপন আপন স্থান হইতে যাত্রা করিয়া তাহারা পশ্চাতে পশ্চাতে গমন করিবে।
3and they commanded the people, saying, When you see the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then you shall remove from your place, and go after it.
4তথাপি তাহার ও তোমাদের মধ্যে অনুমান দুই সহস্র হস্ত পরিমিত ভূমি ব্যবধান থাকিবে; তাহার আর নিকটবর্ত্তী হইবে না; যেন তোমরা আপনাদের গন্তব্য পথ জানিতে পার, কেননা ইতিপূর্ব্বে তোমরা এই পথ দিয়া যাও নাই।
4Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: don't come near to it, that you may know the way by which you must go; for you have not passed this way heretofore.
5পরে যিহোশূয় লোকদিগকে কহিলেন, তোমরা আপনাদিগকে পবিত্র কর, কেননা কল্য সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের মধ্যে আশ্চর্য্য ক্রিয়া করিবেন।
5Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves; for tomorrow Yahweh will do wonders among you.
6পরে যিহোশূয় যাজকদিগকে বলিলেন, তোমরা নিয়ম-সিন্দুক তুলিয়া লইয়া লোকদের অগ্রে অগ্রে চল; তাহাতে তাহারা নিয়ম-সিন্দুক তুলিয়া লইয়া লোকদের অগ্রে অগ্রে গমন করিতে লাগিল।
6Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. They took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.
7তখন সদাপ্রভু যিহোশূয়কে কহিলেন, অদ্য আমি সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের সাক্ষাতে তোমাকে মহিমান্বিত করিতে আরম্ভ করিব, যেন তাহারা জানিতে পারে যে আমি যেমন মোশির সহবর্ত্তী ছিলাম, তেমনি তোমার সহবর্ত্তী থাকিব।
7Yahweh said to Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.
8তুমি নিয়ম-সিন্দুকবাহক যাজকগণকে এই আজ্ঞা কর, যর্দ্দনের জলের ধারে উপস্থিত হইলে তোমরা যর্দ্দনে দাঁড়াইয়া থাকিবে।
8You shall command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When you are come to the brink of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.
9তখন যিহোশূয় ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানগণকে কহিলেন, তোমরা এখানে আইস, তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য শুন।
9Joshua said to the children of Israel, Come here, and hear the words of Yahweh your God.
10আর যিহোশূয় কহিলেন, জীবন্ত ঈশ্বর যে তোমাদের মধ্যে বিদ্যমান, এবং কনানীয়, হিত্তীয়, হিব্বীয়, পরিষীয়, গির্গাশীয়, ইমোরীয় ও যিবূষীয়দিগকে তোমাদের সম্মুখ হইতে নিশ্চয়ই অধিকারচ্যুত করিবেন, তাহা তোমরা ইহা দ্বারা জানিতে পারিবে।
10Joshua said, Hereby you shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite.
11দেখ, সমস্ত ভূমণ্ডলের প্রভুর নিয়ম-সিন্দুক তোমাদের অগ্রে অগ্রে যর্দ্দনে যাইতেছে।
11Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passes over before you into the Jordan.
12এখন তোমরা ইস্রায়েলের এক এক বংশ হইতে এক এক জন, এইরূপে বারো বংশ হইতে বারো জনকে গ্রহণ কর।
12Now therefore take twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, for every tribe a man.
13পরে এইরূপ হইবে, সমস্ত ভূমণ্ডলের প্রভু সদাপ্রভুর নিয়ম-সিন্দুকবাহক যাজকদের পদতল যর্দ্দনের জলে প্রবিষ্ট হইবামাত্র যর্দ্দনের জল, অর্থাৎ উপর হইতে যে জল বহিয়া আসিতেছে, তাহা ছিন্ন হইবে, এবং এক রাশি হইয়া দাঁড়াইয়া থাকিবে।
13It shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of Yahweh, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, even the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand in one heap.
14তখন লোকেরা যর্দ্দন পার হইবার জন্য আপন আপন তাম্বু হইতে যাত্রা করিল, আর যাজকগণ নিয়ম-সিন্দুক বহন করতঃ লোকদের অগ্রবর্ত্তী হইল।
14It happened, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Jordan, the priests who bore the ark of the covenant being before the people;
15আর সিন্দুকবাহকেরা যখন যর্দ্দন-সমীপে উপস্থিত হইল, এবং জলের ধারে সিন্দুকবাহক যাজকগণের চরণ জলমগ্ন হইল,—বাস্তবিক ফসল কাটার সমস্ত সময় যর্দ্দনের জল সমস্ত তীরের উপরে থাকে,
15and when those who bore the ark were come to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the time of harvest,)
16—তখন উপর হইতে আগত সমস্ত জল দাঁড়াইল, অতিদূরে সর্ত্তনের নিকটবর্ত্তী আদম নগরের কাছে এক রাশি হইয়া উঠিয়া রহিল, এবং অরাবা তলভূমির সমুদ্রে অর্থাৎ লবণ সমুদ্রে যে জল নামিয়া যাইতেছিল, তাহা সম্পূর্ণ ছিন্ন হইল; তাহাতে লোকেরা যিরীহোর সম্মুখেই পার হইল।
16that the waters which came down from above stood, and rose up in one heap, a great way off, at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those that went down toward the sea of the Arabah, even the Salt Sea, were wholly cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
17আর যে পর্য্যন্ত সমস্ত লোক নিঃশেষে যর্দ্দন পার না হইল, সেই পর্য্যন্ত সদাপ্রভুর নিয়ম-সিন্দুকবাহক যাজকগণ যর্দ্দন-মধ্যে শুষ্কভূমিতে দাঁড়াইয়া থাকিল; এবং সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল ক্রমশঃ শুষ্ক ভূমি দিয়া পার হইয়া গেল।
17The priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Yahweh stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan; and all Israel passed over on dry ground, until all the nation were passed clean over the Jordan.
