তুমি কি বড়শীতে লিবিয়াথনকে তুলিতে পার? হাতসূতে তাহার জিহ্বা বাঁধিতে পার?

"Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook? Or press down his tongue with a cord?

নলকাটী দিয়া তার নাক কি ফুঁড়িতে পার? বড়শা দিয়া তাহার হনূ কি বিঁধিতে পার?

Can you put a rope into his nose? Or pierce his jaw through with a hook?

সে কি তোমার কাছে বহু বিনতি করিবে, বা তোমাকে কোমল কথা বলিবে?

Will he make many petitions to you? Or will he speak soft words to you?

সে কি তোমার সহিত নিয়ম করিবে? তুমি কি তাহাকে লইয়া চির দাস করিবে?

Will he make a covenant with you, That you should take him for a servant forever?

পক্ষীর সঙ্গে যেমন খেলা করে, তেমনি কি তার সঙ্গে খেলা করিবে? তোমার যুবতীদের জন্য কি তাহাকে বাঁধিয়া রাখিবে?

Will you play with him as with a bird? Or will you bind him for your girls?

ধীবর-দল কি তাহাকে দিয়া ব্যবসায় করিবে? অংশ অংশ করিয়া কি বণিক্দিগকে দিবে?

Will traders barter for him? Will they part him among the merchants?

তুমি কি তাহার চর্ম্ম লৌহ-ফলায়, তাহার মস্তক ধীবরের টেঁটায়, বিঁধিতে পার?

Can you fill his skin with barbed irons, Or his head with fish-spears?

তোমার হস্ত তাহার উপরে রাখ; যুদ্ধ স্মরণ কর, আর সেরূপ করিও না।

Lay your hand on him. Remember the battle, and do so no more.

দেখ, তাহাকে ধরিবার প্রত্যাশা মিথ্যা; তাহাকে দেখিবামাত্র লোকে কি পড়িয়া যায় না?

Behold, the hope of him is in vain. Will not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10
তাহাকে জাগাইবে, এমন সাহসী কেহ নাই; তবে আমার সাক্ষাতে কে দাঁড়াইতে পারে?

None is so fierce that he dare stir him up. Who then is he who can stand before me?
11
কে অগ্রে আমার উপকার করিয়াছে যে, আমি তাহার প্রত্যুপকার করিব? সমস্ত আকাশমণ্ডলের নীচে সকলই আমার।

Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Everything under the heavens is mine.
12
তাহার অঙ্গের সম্বন্ধে আমি নীরব থাকিব না, তাহার বিপুল বলের ও শরীরের সৌষ্ঠবের [কথা বলিব]।

"I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, Nor his mighty strength, nor his goodly frame.
13
তাহার বর্ম্ম কে খুলিয়া দিতে পারে? তাহার দন্তশ্রেণীদ্বয়ের মধ্যে কে যাইতে পারে?

Who can strip off his outer garment? Who shall come within his jaws?
14
তাহার মুখের কবাট কে খুলিতে পারে? তাহার দন্তাবলির চারি দিকে ত্রাস থাকে।

Who can open the doors of his face? Around his teeth is terror.
15
তাহার ফলকশ্রেণী শোভা পায়, তাহা মুদ্রাঙ্কিতের ন্যায় দৃঢ়রূপে বদ্ধ।

Strong scales are his pride, Shut up together with a close seal.
16
সেই সকল পরস্পর এমন সংলগ্ন যে, তাহার অন্তরালে বায়ু প্রবেশ করিতে পারে না।

One is so near to another, That no air can come between them.
17
সেই সকল পরস্পর সংযুক্ত, সেগুলি একত্র সংলগ্ন, কিছুতেই ভিন্ন হয় না।

They are joined one to another; They stick together, so that they can't be pulled apart.
18
তাহার হাঁচিতে দীপ্তি বিকাশ করে, তাহার নয়ন অরুণের নেত্রচ্ছদের সদৃশ।

His sneezing flashes forth light, His eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19
তাহার মুখ হইতে জ্বলন্ত মশাল নির্গত হয়, অগ্নিস্ফুলিঙ্গ উৎপন্ন হয়।

Out of his mouth go burning torches, Sparks of fire leap forth.
20
তাহার নাসারন্ধ্র হইতে ধূম নির্গত হয়, যেমন তপ্ত হণ্ডিকা ও খাগড়ার ধূম।

Out of his nostrils a smoke goes, As of a boiling pot over a fire of reeds.

তাহার নিঃশ্বাসে অঙ্গার জ্বলিয়া উঠে, তাহার মুখ হইতে অগ্নিশিখা বাহির হয়।

His breath kindles coals. A flame goes forth from his mouth.
22
তাহার গ্রীবায় বল অবস্থিতি করে, তাহার সম্মুখে ত্রাস নৃত্য করে।

In his neck there is strength. Terror dances before him.
23
তাহার মাংসের পর্ত্তা পরস্পর সংযুক্ত; তাহা তাহার উপরে দৃঢ়ীভূত, সরিতে পারে না।

The flakes of his flesh are joined together. They are firm on him. They can't be moved.
24
তাহার হৃৎপিণ্ড প্রস্তরের ন্যায় দৃঢ়, যাঁতার নীচের পাটের ন্যায় দৃঢ়।

His heart is as firm as a stone, Yes, firm as the lower millstone.
25
সে উঠিলে বলবানেরাও উদ্বিগ্ন হয়, ত্রাসপ্রযুক্ত হতবুদ্ধি হইয়া পড়ে।

When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid. They retreat before his thrashing.
26
খড়্গে তাহাকে আক্রমণ করিলে কিছু হইবে না, বড়শা, বাণ ও সাঁজোয়া বিফল হয়।

If one lay at him with the sword, it can't avail; Nor the spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft.
27
সে লৌহকে নাড়ার ন্যায়, পিত্তলকে পচা কাষ্ঠের ন্যায় জ্ঞান করে।

He counts iron as straw; And brass as rotten wood.
28
ধনুর্ব্বাণ তাহাকে তাড়াইতে পারে না, তাহার কাছে ফিঙ্গার প্রস্তর তৃণ হইয়া পড়ে।

The arrow can't make him flee. Sling stones are like chaff to him.

সে গদাকে তৃণতুল্য জ্ঞান করে, বড়শার ধ্বনিতে হাস্য করে।

Clubs are counted as stubble. He laughs at the rushing of the javelin.

তাহার তলদেশ শাণিত খোলার ন্যায়, সে কর্দ্দমের উপর দিয়া কাঁটার মই চালায়।

His undersides are like sharp potsherds, Leaving a trail in the mud like a threshing sledge.

সে অগাধ জলকে স্থালীর জলের ন্যায় ফুটায়। সে সমুদ্রকে মলমের ন্যায় করে।

He makes the deep to boil like a pot. He makes the sea like a pot of ointment.

তাহার পশ্চাতে পথ চক্মক্ করে, জলধি পক্ককেশের তুল্য বোধ হয়।

He makes a path to shine after him. One would think the deep had white hair.

পৃথিবীতে তাহার তুল্য কিছুই নাই; তাহাকে নির্ভীক করিয়া নির্ম্মাণ করা হইয়াছে।

On earth there is not his equal, That is made without fear.
34
সে যাবতীয় উচ্চবস্তু সন্দর্শন করে, যাবতীয় গর্ব্ব-সন্তানের উপরে রাজা হয়।

He sees everything that is high: He is king over all the sons of pride."
