1পরে নামাথীয় সোফর উত্তর করিয়া কহিলেন,
1Then Zophar, the Naamathite, answered,
2এত কথার কি কিছুই উত্তর দেওয়া যাইবে না? বাচালকে কি ধার্ম্মিক বলা যাইবে?
2"Shouldn't the multitude of words be answered? Should a man full of talk be justified?
3তোমার দর্পে কি মনুষ্যেরা নীরব থাকিবে? তুমি বিদ্রূপ করিলে কি কেহ তোমাকে লজ্জা দিবে না?
3Should your boastings make men hold their peace? When you mock, shall no man make you ashamed?
4তুমি [ঈশ্বরকে] কহিতেছ, ‘আমার বাক্য শুদ্ধ, আমি তোমার দৃষ্টিতে শুচি।’
4For you say, 'My doctrine is pure, I am clean in your eyes.'
5আহা! ঈশ্বর একবার কথা বলুন, তিনি তোমার বিরুদ্ধে আপন ওষ্ঠ খুলুন,
5But oh that God would speak, And open his lips against you,
6তিনি প্রজ্ঞার গূঢ় তত্ত্ব তোমাকে জ্ঞাত করুন, কারণ বুদ্ধিকৌশল বহুবিধ; জানিও, ঈশ্বর তোমার অপরাধের অনেকটা ছাড়িয়া দেন।
6That he would show you the secrets of wisdom! For true wisdom has two sides. Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.
7তুমি কি অনুসন্ধান দ্বারা ঈশ্বরকে পাইতে পার? সর্ব্বশক্তিমানের সম্পূর্ণ তত্ত্ব পাইতে পার?
7"Can you fathom the mystery of God? Or can you probe the limits of the Almighty?
8সে তত্ত্ব গগনবৎ উচ্চ; তুমি কি করিতে পার? পাতাল অপেক্ষাও অগাধ; তুমি কি জানিতে পার?
8They are high as heaven. What can you do? Deeper than Sheol: what can you know?
9পৃথিবী হইতেও তাহার পরিমাণ দীর্ঘ, সমুদ্র হইতেও তাহার পরিসর অধিক।
9The measure of it is longer than the earth, And broader than the sea.
10তিনি যদি হঠাৎ আসিয়া বদ্ধ করেন, যদি বিচারসভা করেন, তবে তাঁহাকে কে নিবারণ করিতে পারে?
10If he passes by, or confines, Or convenes a court, then who can oppose him?
11কেননা তিনি অলীক লোকদিগকে জানেন, আলোচনা না করিয়াও অধর্ম্ম দেখেন।
11For he knows false men. He sees iniquity also, even though he doesn't consider it.
12কিন্তু নিঃসার মনুষ্য জ্ঞানবিহীন, সে জন্মাবধি বনগর্দ্দভের শাবকের তুল্য।
12But vain man can become wise If a man can be born as a wild donkey's colt.
13তুমি যদি আপনার চিত্ত স্থির কর, যদি তাঁহার অভিমুখে অঞ্জলি প্রসারণ কর;
13"If you set your heart aright, Stretch out your hands toward him.
14হস্তে অধর্ম্ম থাকিলে যদি তাহা দূর কর, অন্যায়কে তব তাম্বুতে বাস করিতে না দেও;
14If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, Don't let unrighteousness dwell in your tents.
15তবে তুমি তোমার মুখ বিনা কলঙ্কে তুলিবে, তুমি সুস্থির থাকিবে, ভয় করিবে না।
15Surely then shall you lift up your face without spot; Yes, you shall be steadfast, and shall not fear:
16কারণ তুমি তোমার কষ্ট ভুলিয়া যাইবে, তাহা প্রবাহিত জলের ন্যায় মনে হইবে।
16For you shall forget your misery; You shall remember it as waters that are passed away,
17তোমার জীবন মধ্যাহ্ন হইতেও বিমল হইবে, অন্ধকার হইলেও তাহা প্রভাতের ন্যায় হইবে।
17Life shall be clearer than the noonday; Though there is darkness, it shall be as the morning.
18তুমি সাহস করিবে, কারণ প্রত্যাশা আছে, চারিদিকে তত্ত্ব লইয়া নির্ভয়ে শয়ন করিবে।
18You shall be secure, because there is hope; Yes, you shall search, and shall take your rest in safety.
19আর তুমি শুইবে, কেহ তোমাকে ভয় দেখাইবে না, বরং অনেকে তোমার কাছে বিনতি করিবে।
19Also you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid; Yes, many shall court your favor.
20কিন্তু দুষ্টদের চক্ষু নিস্তেজ হইবে, তাহাদের আশ্রয় বিনষ্ট হইবে, তাহাদের আশা প্রাণত্যাগে পরিণত হইবে।
20But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, They shall have no way to flee; Their hope shall be the giving up of the spirit."
