1কিন্তু যে [দেশ] পূর্ব্বে যাতনাগ্রস্ত ছিল, তাহার তিমির আর থাকিবে না; তিনি পূর্ব্বকালে সবূলূন দেশ ও নপ্তালি দেশকে তুচ্ছাস্পদ করিয়াছিলেন, কিন্তু উত্তরকালে সমুদ্রের নিকটবর্ত্তী সেই পথ, যর্দ্দনের তীরস্থ প্রদেশ, জাতিগণের গালীলকে, গৌরবান্বিত করিয়াছেন।
1But there shall be no gloom to her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali; but in the latter time has he made it glorious, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
2যে জাতি অন্ধকারে ভ্রমণ করিত, তাহারা মহা-আলোক দেখিতে পাইয়াছে; যাহারা মৃত্যুচ্ছায়ার দেশে বাস করিত, তাহাদের উপরে আলোক উদিত হইয়াছে।
2The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light: those who lived in the land of the shadow of death, on them has the light shined.
3তুমি সেই জাতির বৃদ্ধি করিয়াছ, তাহাদের আনন্দ বাড়াইয়াছ; তাহারা তোমার সাক্ষাতে শস্যচ্ছেদন সময়ের ন্যায় আহ্লাদ করে, যেমন লুট বিভাগ করিবার সময়ে লোকেরা উল্লাসিত হয়।
3You have multiplied the nation, you have increased their joy: they joy before you according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4কারণ তুমি তাহার ভারের যোঁয়ালি, তাহার স্কন্ধের বাঁক, তাহার উপদ্রবকারীর দণ্ড ভাঙ্গিয়া ফেলিয়াছ, যেমন মিদিয়নের দিনে করিয়াছিলে।
4For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as in the day of Midian.
5বস্তুতঃ তুমুল যুদ্ধে সজ্জিত ব্যক্তির সমস্ত সজ্জা ও রক্তে লুণ্ঠিত বস্ত্র সকল জ্বলনীয় দ্রব্য হইবে, অগ্নির ভক্ষ্যস্বরূপ হইবে।
5For all the armor of the armed man in the tumult, and the garments rolled in blood, shall be for burning, for fuel of fire.
6কারণ একটী বালক আমাদের জন্য জন্মিয়াছেন, একটী পুত্র আমাদিগকে দত্ত হইয়াছে; আর তাঁহারই স্কন্ধের উপরে কর্ত্তৃত্বভার থাকিবে, এবং তাঁহার নাম হইবে—‘আশ্চর্য্য মন্ত্রী, বিক্রমশালী ঈশ্বর, সনাতন পিতা, শান্তিরাজ’।
6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be on his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7দায়ূদের সিংহাসন ও তাঁহার রাজ্যের উপরে কর্ত্তৃত্ববৃদ্ধির ও শান্তির সীমা থাকিবে না, যেন তাহা সুস্থির ও সুদৃঢ় করা হয়, ন্যায়বিচারে ও ধার্ম্মিকতা সহকারে, এখন অবধি অনন্তকাল পর্য্যন্ত। বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভুর উদ্যোগ ইহা সম্পন্ন করিবে।
7Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of Hosts will perform this.
8প্রভু যাকোবের কাছে এক বচন প্রেরণ করিয়াছেন, তাহা ইস্রায়েলের উপরে পতিত হইয়াছে।
8The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it has lighted on Israel.
9আর [দেশের] সমস্ত লোক, ইফ্রয়িম ও শমরিয়ার নিবাসিগণ, তাহা জানিতে পাইবে; তাহারা দর্পে ও চিত্তের গর্ব্বে বলিতেছে,
9All the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart,
10ইষ্টক পতিত হইয়াছে বটে, কিন্তু আমরা তক্ষিত প্রস্তরে গাঁথিব; সুকমোর কাষ্ঠ সকল কাটা গিয়াছে বটে, কিন্তু আমরা তাহার পরিবর্ত্তে এরস কাষ্ঠ দিব।
10The bricks are fallen, but we will build with hewn stone; the sycamores are cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.
11অতএব সদাপ্রভু রৎসীনের বিপক্ষদলকে তাহার বিরুদ্ধে উচ্চে স্থাপন করিবেন, ও তাহার শত্রুদিগকে উত্তেজিত করিবেন;
11Therefore Yahweh will set up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin, and will stir up his enemies,
12অরাম সম্মুখে ও পলেষ্টীয়েরা পশ্চাতে; তাহারা হা করিয়া ইস্রায়েলকে গ্রাস করিবে এই সকলেতেও তাঁহার ক্রোধ নিবৃত্ত হয় নাই, কিন্তু তাঁহার হস্ত এখনও বিস্তারিত রহিয়াছে।
12the Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13তথাপি যিনি লোকদিগকে প্রহার করিয়াছেন, তাঁহার কাছে তাহারা ফিরে নাই, বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভুর অন্বেষণ করে নাই।
13Yet the people have not turned to him who struck them, neither have they sought Yahweh of Hosts.
14এইজন্য সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলের মস্তক ও পুচ্ছ, বাগুড়া ও খাগড়া এক দিনেই কাটিয়া ফেলিবেন।
14Therefore Yahweh will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm-branch and rush, in one day.
15প্রাচীন ও সম্মানিত লোক সেই মস্তক, এবং মিথ্যাশিক্ষা-দায়ী ভাববাদী সেই পুচ্ছ।
15The elder and the honorable man, he is the head; and the prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.
16কারণ এই জাতির পথদর্শকেরাই ইহাদিগকে ঘুরাইয়া লইয়া বেড়ায় এবং যাহারা তাহাদের দ্বারা চালিত হয়, তাহারা সংহারিত হইতেছে।
16For those who lead this people cause them to err; and those who are led of them are destroyed.
17এইজন্য প্রভু তাহাদের যুবকগণে আনন্দ করিবেন না, এবং তাহাদের পিতৃহীনদিগকে ও বিধবাদিগকে অনুকম্পা করিবেন না; কেননা তাহারা সকলে পামর ও দুরাচার, এবং প্রত্যেক মুখ মূঢ়তাভাষী। এই সকলেতেও তাঁহার ক্রোধ নিবৃত্ত হয় নাই, কিন্তু তাঁহার হস্ত এখনও বিস্তারিত রহিয়াছে।
17Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evil-doer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18বাস্তবিক দুষ্টতা অগ্নিবৎ জ্বলে, তাহা শ্যাকুল ও কন্টকবন গ্রাস করে; নিবিড় বনে জ্বলিয়া উঠে, তাহা ঘূর্ণ্যমান ঘন ধূমস্তম্ভ হইয়া উঠে।
18For wickedness burns as the fire; it devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.
19বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধে দেশ দগ্ধ, এবং লোকেরা যেন অগ্নির ভক্ষ্য হইয়াছে; কেহ আপন ভ্রাতার প্রতি মমতা করে না।
19Through the wrath of Yahweh of hosts is the land burnt up; and the people are as the fuel of fire: no man spares his brother.
20কেহ দক্ষিণ হস্তের দিকে টানিয়া লয়, তথাপি ক্ষুধিত থাকে; আবার কেহ বাম হস্তের দিকে গ্রাস করে, কিন্তু তৃপ্ত হয় না; প্রতিজন আপন আপন বাহুর মাংস ভোজন করে;
20One shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
21মনঃশি ইফ্রয়িমকে ও ইফ্রয়িম মনঃশিকে, এবং উভয়ে একসঙ্গে যিহূদাকে আক্রমণ করে; এই সকলেতেও তাঁহার ক্রোধ নিবৃত্ত হয় নাই, কিন্তু তাঁহার হস্ত এখনও বিস্তারিত রহিয়াছে।
21Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
