1পরে সদাপ্রভু আপন বাক্যানুসারে সারার তত্ত্বাবধান করিলেন; সদাপ্রভু যাহা বলিয়াছিলেন, সারার প্রতি তাহা করিলেন।
1Yahweh visited Sarah as he had said, and Yahweh did to Sarah as he had spoken.
2আর সারা গর্ভবতী হইয়া ঈশ্বরের উক্ত নিরূপিত সময়ে অব্রাহামের বৃদ্ধকালে তাঁহার নিমিত্ত পুত্র প্রসব করিলেন।
2Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
3তখন অব্রাহাম সারার গর্ভজাত নিজ পুত্রের নাম ইস্‌হাক, হাস্য, রাখিলেন।
3Abraham called his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
4পরে ঐ পুত্র ইস্‌হাকের আট দিন বয়সে অব্রাহাম ঈশ্বরের আজ্ঞানুসারে তাহার ত্বক্‌ছেদ করিলেন।
4Abraham circumcised his son, Isaac, when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.
5অব্রাহামের এক শত বৎসর বয়সে তাঁহার পুত্র ইস্‌হাকের জন্ম হয়।
5Abraham was one hundred years old when his son, Isaac, was born to him.
6আর সারা কহিলেন, ঈশ্বর আমাকে হাস্য করাইলেন; যে কেহ ইহা শুনিবে, সে আমার সহিত হাস্য করিবে।
6Sarah said, "God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me."
7তিনি আরও কহিলেন, সারা বালকদিগকে স্তন পান করাইবে, এমন কথা অব্রাহামকে কে বলিতে পারিত? কেননা আমি তাঁহার বৃদ্ধকালে তাঁহার নিমিত্ত পুত্র প্রসব করিলাম।
7She said, "Who would have said to Abraham, that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age."
8পরে বালকটী বড় হইয়া স্তন পান ত্যাগ করিল; এবং যে দিন ইস্‌হাক স্তন পান ত্যাগ করিল, সেই দিন অব্রাহাম মহাভোজ প্রস্তুত করিলেন।
8The child grew, and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.
9আর মিস্রীয়া হাগার অব্রাহামের নিমিত্ত যে পুত্র প্রসব করিয়াছিল, সারা তাহাকে পরিহাস করিতে দেখিলেন।
9Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.
10তাহাতে তিনি অব্রাহামকে কহিলেন, তুমি ঐ দাসীকে ও উহার পুত্রকে দূর করিয়া দেও; কেননা আমার পুত্র ইস্‌হাকের সহিত ঐ দাসীপুত্র উত্তরাধিকারী হইবে না।
10Therefore she said to Abraham, "Cast out this handmaid and her son! For the son of this handmaid will not be heir with my son, even with Isaac."
11এই কথায় অব্রাহাম আপন পুত্রের বিষয়ে অতি অসন্তুষ্ট হইলেন।
11The thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight on account of his son.
12আর ঈশ্বর অব্রাহামকে কহিলেন, ঐ বালকের বিষয়ে ও তোমার ঐ দাসীর বিষয়ে অসন্তুষ্ট হইও না; সারা তোমাকে যাহা বলিতেছে, তাহার সেই কথা শুন; কেননা ইস্‌হাকেই তোমার বংশ আখ্যাত হইবে।
12God said to Abraham, "Don't let it be grievous in your sight because of the boy, and because of your handmaid. In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. For from Isaac will your seed be called.
13আর ঐ দাসীপুত্র হইতেও আমি এক জাতি উৎপন্ন করিব, কারণ সে তোমার বংশীয়।
13Also of the son of the handmaid will I make a nation, because he is your seed."
14পরে অব্রাহাম প্রত্যূষে উঠিয়া রুটী ও জলপূর্ণ কুপা লইয়া হাগারের স্কন্ধে দিয়া বালকটীকে সমর্পণ করিয়া তাহাকে বিদায় করিলেন। তাহাতে সে প্রস্থান করিয়া বের্‌-শেবা প্রান্তরে ঘূরিয়া বেড়াইল।
14Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread and a bottle of water, and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and gave her the child, and sent her away. She departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
15পরে কুপার জল শেষ হইল, তাহাতে সে এক ঝোপের নীচে বালকটীকে ফেলিয়া রাখিল;
15The water in the bottle was spent, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
16আর আপনি তাহার সম্মুখ হইতে অনেকটা দূরে, অনুমান এক তীর দূরে গিয়া বসিল, কারণ সে কহিল, বালকটীর মৃত্যু আমি দেখিব না। আর সে তাহার সম্মুখ হইতে দূরে বসিয়া উচ্চৈঃস্বরে রোদন করিতে লাগিল।
16She went and sat down opposite him, a good way off, about a bow shot away. For she said, "Don't let me see the death of the child." She sat over against him, and lifted up her voice, and wept.
17তখন ঈশ্বর বালকটীর রব শুনিলেন; আর ঈশ্বরের দূত আকাশ হইতে ডাকিয়া হাগারকে কহিলেন, হাগার, তোমার কি হইল? ভয় করিও না, বালকটী যেখানে আছে, ঈশ্বর তথা হইতে উহার রব শুনিলেন;
17God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called to Hagar out of the sky, and said to her, "What ails you, Hagar? Don't be afraid. For God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.
18তুমি উঠিয়া বালকটীকে তুলিয়া তোমার হাতে ধর; কারণ আমি উহাকে এক মহাজাতি করিব।
18Get up, lift up the boy, and hold him in your hand. For I will make him a great nation."
19তখন ঈশ্বর তাহার চক্ষু খুলিয়া দিলেন, তাহাতে সে এক সজল কূপ দেখিতে পাইল, আর তথায় গিয়া কুপাতে জল পূরিয়া বালকটীকে পান করাইল।
19God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She went, filled the bottle with water, and gave the boy drink.
20পরে ঈশ্বর বালকটীর সহবর্ত্তী হইলেন, আর সে বড় হইয়া উঠিল, এবং প্রান্তরে থাকিয়া ধনুর্দ্ধর হইল।
20God was with the boy, and he grew. He lived in the wilderness, and became, as he grew up, an archer.
21সে পারণ প্রান্তরে বসতি করিল। আর তাহার মাতা তাহার বিবাহার্থে মিসর দেশ হইতে এক কন্যা আনিল।
21He lived in the wilderness of Paran. His mother took a wife for him out of the land of Egypt.
22ঐ সময়ে অবীমেলক এবং তাঁহার সেনাপতি ফীখোল অব্রাহামকে কহিলেন, আপনি যে কিছু করেন, সে সকলেতেই ঈশ্বর আপনার সহবর্ত্তী।
22It happened at that time, that Abimelech and Phicol the captain of his host spoke to Abraham, saying, "God is with you in all that you do.
23অতএব আপনি এখন এই স্থানে ঈশ্বরের দিব্য করিয়া আমাকে বলুন যে, আমার প্রতি ও আমার পুত্র পৌত্রের প্রতি বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করিবেন না; এবং আমি আপনার প্রতি যেরূপ দয়া করিয়াছি, আপনিও আমার প্রতি ও আপনার প্রবাসস্থান এই দেশের প্রতি তদ্রূপ দয়া করিবেন।
23Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son. But according to the kindness that I have done to you, you shall do to me, and to the land in which you have lived as a foreigner."
24তখন অব্রাহাম কহিলেন, দিব্য করিব।
24Abraham said, "I will swear."
25কিন্তু অবীমেলকের দাসগণ এক সজল কূপ সবলে অধিকার করিয়াছিল, এই জন্য অব্রাহাম অবীমেলককে অনুযোগ করিলেন।
25Abraham complained to Abimelech because of a water well, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away.
26তাহাতে অবীমেলক কহিলেন, এই কর্ম্ম কে করিয়াছে, তাহা আমি জানি না; আপনিও আমাকে জানান নাই, এবং অামিও কেবল অদ্য এ কথা শুনিলাম।
26Abimelech said, "I don't know who has done this thing. Neither did you tell me, neither did I hear of it, until today."
27পরে অব্রাহাম মেষ ও গোরু লইয়া অবীমেলককে দিলেন, এবং উভয়ে এক নিয়ম স্থির করিলেন।
27Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them to Abimelech. Those two made a covenant.
28আর অব্রাহাম পাল হইতে সাতটা মেষবৎসা পৃথক্‌ করিয়া রাখিলেন।
28Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.
29অবীমেলক তাঁহাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করিলেন, আপনি কি অভিপ্রায়ে এই সাত মেষবৎসা পৃথক্‌ করিয়া রাখিলেন?
29Abimelech said to Abraham, "What do these seven ewe lambs which you have set by themselves mean?"
30তিনি কহিলেন, আমি যে এই কূপ খনন করিয়াছি, তাহার প্রমাণার্থে আমা হইতে এই সাত মেষবৎসা আপনাকে গ্রহণ করিতে হইবে।
30He said, "You shall take these seven ewe lambs from my hand, that it may be a witness to me, that I have dug this well."
31এজন্য তিনি সেই স্থানের নাম বের‌্-শেবা [দিব্যের কূপ] রাখিলেন, কেননা সেই স্থানে তাঁহারা উভয়ে দিব্য করিলেন।
31Therefore he called that place Beersheba, because they both swore there.
32এইরূপে তাঁহারা বের্‌-শেবাতে নিয়ম স্থির করিলেন; পরে অবীমেলক ও তাঁহার সেনাপতি ফীখোল উঠিয়া পলেষ্টীয়দের দেশে ফিরিয়া গেলেন।
32So they made a covenant at Beersheba. Abimelech rose up with Phicol, the captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.
33পরে অব্রাহাম বের্-শেবায় ঝাউ গাছ রোপন করিয়া সেই স্থানে অনাদি অনন্ত ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর নামে ডাকিলেন।
33Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and called there on the name of Yahweh, the Everlasting God.
34আর অব্রাহাম পলেষ্টীয়দের দেশে অনেক দিন প্রবাস করিলেন।
34Abraham lived as a foreigner in the land of the Philistines many days.
