যে কেহ গোরু কিম্বা মেষ চুরি করিয়া বধ করে, কিম্বা বিক্রয় করে, সে এক গোরুর পরিশোধে পাঁচ গোরু, ও এক মেষের পরিশোধে চারি মেষ দিবে।

"If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and kills it, or sells it; he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

আর চোর যদি সিঁধ কাটিবার সময়ে ধরা পড়িয়া আহত হয়, ও মারা পড়ে, তবে তাহার জন্য রক্তপাতের দোষ হইবে না।

If the thief is found breaking in, and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt of bloodshed for him.

যদি তাহার উপরে সূর্য্য উদিত হয়, তবে রক্তপাতের দোষ হইবে; ক্ষতিপূরণ করা চোরের কর্ত্তব্য; যদি তাহার কিছু না থাকে, তবে চৌর্য্য হেতু সে বিক্রীত হইবে।

If the sun has risen on him, there shall be guilt of bloodshed for him; he shall make restitution. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

গোরু, গর্দ্দভ বা মেষ, চুরির কোন বস্তু যদি চোরের হস্তে জীবৎ পাওয়া যায়, তবে সে তাহার দ্বিগুণ দিবে।

If the stolen property is found in his hand alive, whether it is ox, donkey, or sheep, he shall pay double.

কেহ যদি শস্যক্ষেত্রে কিম্বা দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেত্রে পশু চরায়, আর আপন পশু ছাড়িয়া দিলে যদি তাহা অন্যের ক্ষেত্রে চরে, তবে সে ব্যক্তি আপন ক্ষেত্রের উত্তম শস্য কিম্বা আপন দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেত্রের উত্তম ফল দিয়া ক্ষতিপূরণ করিবে।

"If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten, and lets his animal loose, and it grazes in another man's field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field, and from the best of his own vineyard.

অগ্নি ধরিয়া উঠিয়া কন্টকবনে লাগিলে যদি কাহারও শস্যরাশি কিম্বা শস্যের ঝাড় কিম্বা ক্ষেত্র দগ্ধ হয়, তবে সেই দাহকারী অবশ্য ক্ষতিপূরণ করিবে।

"If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

কেহ মুদ্রা কিম্বা জিনিসপত্র আপন প্রতিবাসীর কাছে গচ্ছিত রাখিলে যদি তাহার গৃহ হইতে কেহ তাহা চুরি করে, এবং সেই চোর ধরা পড়ে, তবে সে তাহার দ্বিগুণ দিবে।

"If a man delivers to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man's house; if the thief is found, he shall pay double.

যদি চোর ধরা না পড়ে, তবে গৃহস্বামী প্রতিবাসীর দ্রব্যে হাত দিয়াছে কি না, তাহা জানিবার জন্য সে ঈশ্বরের সাক্ষাতে আনীত হইবে।

If the thief isn't found, then the master of the house shall come near to God, to find out if he hasn't put his hand to his neighbor's goods.

সর্ব্বপ্রকার অপরাধের বিষয়ে, অর্থাৎ গোরু কিম্বা গর্দ্দভ কিম্বা মেষ কিম্বা বস্ত্র, বা কোন হারাণ বস্তুর বিষয়ে যদি কেহ বলে, এ সেই দ্রব্য, তবে উভয়ের কথা ঈশ্বরের নিকটে উপস্থিত হইবে; ঈশ্বর যাহাকে দোষী করিবেন, সে আপন প্রতিবাসীকে তাহার দ্বিগুণ দিবে।

For every matter of trespass, whether it be for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any kind of lost thing, whereof one says, 'This is mine,' the cause of both parties shall come before God. He whom God condemns shall pay double to his neighbor.

কেহ যদি আপন গর্দ্দভ কিম্বা গোরু কিম্বা মেষ কিম্বা কোন পশু প্রতিবাসীর কাছে পালনার্থে রাখে, এবং লোকের অগোচরে সে পশু মরিয়া যায়, বা ভগ্নাঙ্গ হয়, কিম্বা তাড়িত হয়,

"If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies or is injured, or driven away, no man seeing it;

তবে ‘আমি প্রতিবাসীর দ্রব্যে হস্তার্পণ করি নাই’, ইহা বলিয়া এক জন অন্য জনের কাছে সদাপ্রভুর নামে দিব্য করিবে; আর পশুর স্বামী সেই দিব্য গ্রাহ্য করিবে, ঐ ব্যক্তি ক্ষতিপূরণ করিবে না।

the oath of Yahweh shall be between them both, whether he hasn't put his hand to his neighbor's goods; and the owner of it shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.

কিন্তু যদি তাহার নিকট হইতে উহা চুরি যায়, তবে সে তাহার স্বামীর কাছে ক্ষতিপূরণ করিবে।

But if it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution to the owner of it.
13
যদি সেটী বিদীর্ণ হয়, তবে সে প্রমাণার্থে তাহা উপস্থিত করুক; সেই বিদীর্ণ পশুর জন্য সে ক্ষতিপূরণ করিবে না।

If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for evidence. He shall not make good that which was torn.

আর কেহ যদি আপন প্রতিবাসীর পশু চাহিয়া লয়, ও তাহার স্বামী তাহার সহিত না থাকিবার সময়ে সে ভগ্নাঙ্গ হয় কিম্বা মরিয়া যায়, তবে সে অবশ্য ক্ষতিপূরণ করিবে।

"If a man borrows anything of his neighbor's, and it is injured, or dies, the owner of it not being with it, he shall surely make restitution.
15
যদি তাহার স্বামী তাহার কাছে থাকে, তবে সে ক্ষতিপূরণ করিবে না; তাহা যদি ভাড়া করা পশু হয়, তবে তাহার ভাড়াতে শোধ হইল।

If the owner of it is with it, he shall not make it good. If it is a leased thing, it came for its lease.
16
আর কেহ যদি অবাগ্দত্তা কুমারীকে ভুলাইয়া তাহার সহিত শয়ন করে, তবে সে অবশ্য কন্যাপণ দিয়া তাহাকে বিবাহ করিবে।

"If a man entices a virgin who isn't pledged to be married, and lies with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife.
17
যদি সেই ব্যক্তির সহিত আপন কন্যার বিবাহ দিতে পিতা নিতান্ত অসম্মত হয়, তবে কন্যাপণের ব্যবস্থানুসারে তাহাকে রৌপ্য দিতে হইবে।

If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

তুমি মায়াবিনীকে জীবিত রাখিও না।

"You shall not allow a sorceress to live.
19
পশুর সহিত শৃঙ্গারকারী ব্যক্তির প্রাণদণ্ড অবশ্য হইবে।

"Whoever has sex with an animal shall surely be put to death.
20
যে ব্যক্তি কেবল সদাপ্রভু ব্যতিরেকে কোন দেবতার কাছে বলিদান করে, সে সম্পূর্ণরূপে বিনষ্ট হইবে।

"He who sacrifices to any god, except to Yahweh only, shall be utterly destroyed.
21
তুমি বিদেশীর প্রতি অন্যায় করিও না, তাহার প্রতি উপদ্রব করিও না, কেননা মিসর দেশে তোমরা বিদেশী ছিলে।

"You shall not wrong an alien, neither shall you oppress him, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.
22
তোমরা কোন বিধবাকে কিম্বা পিতৃহীনকে দুঃখ দিও না।

"You shall not take advantage of any widow or fatherless child.
23
তাহাদিগকে কোন মতে দুঃখ দিলে যদি তাহারা আমার নিকটে ক্রন্দন করে, তবে আমি অবশ্য তাহাদের ক্রন্দন শুনিব;

If you take advantage of them at all, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry;
24
আর আমার ক্রোধ প্রজ্বলিত হইবে, এবং আমি তোমাদিগকে খড়গ দ্বারা বধ করিব, তাহাতে তোমাদের স্ত্রীরা বিধবা ও তোমাদের সন্তানগণ পিতৃহীন হইবে।

and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
25
তুমি যদি আমার প্রজাদের মধ্যে তোমার স্বজাতীয় কোন দীন দুঃখীকে টাকা ধার দেও, তবে তাহার কাছে সুদগ্রাহীর ন্যায় হইও না; তোমরা তাহার উপরে সুদ চাপাইবে না।

"If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor; neither shall you charge him interest.
26
যদি তুমি আপন প্রতিবাসীর বস্ত্র বন্ধক রাখ, তবে সুর্য্যাস্তের পূর্ব্বে তাহা ফিরাইয়া দিও;

If you take your neighbor's garment as collateral, you shall restore it to him before the sun goes down,
27
কেননা তাহা তাহার একমাত্র আচ্ছাদন, তাহার গাত্রের বস্ত্র; সে কিসে শয়ন করিবে? আর যদি সে আমার কাছে ক্রন্দন করে, তবে আমি তাহা শুনিব, কেননা আমি কৃপাবান্।

for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.
28
তুমি ঈশ্বরকে ধিক্কার দিও না, এবং স্বজাতীয় লোকদের অধ্যক্ষকে শাপ দিও না।

"You shall not blaspheme God, nor curse a ruler of your people.
29
তোমার পক্ক শস্য ও দ্রাক্ষারস নিবেদন করিতে বিলম্ব করিও না। তোমার প্রথমজাত পুত্রগণ আমাকে দিও।

"You shall not delay to offer from your harvest and from the outflow of your presses. "You shall give the firstborn of your sons to me.
30
তোমার গো ও মেষ সম্বন্ধেও তদ্রূপ করিও; তাহা সাত দিন আপন মাতার সহিত থাকিবে, অষ্টম দিনে তুমি তাহা আমাকে দিও।

You shall do likewise with your oxen and with your sheep. Seven days it shall be with its mother, then on the eighth day you shall give it me.
31
আর তোমরা আমার উদ্দেশে পবিত্র লোক হইবে; ক্ষেত্রে বিদীর্ণ কোন মাংস খাইবে না; তাহা কুকুরদের কাছে ফেলিয়া দিবে।

"You shall be holy men to me, therefore you shall not eat any flesh that is torn by animals in the field. You shall cast it to the dogs.
