1প্রভু সদাপ্রভু আমাকে এইরূপ দেখাইলেন, দেখ, পশ্চাজ্জাত তৃণের অঙ্কুরারম্ভে তিনি পঙ্গপালদিগকে গঠন করিলেন; আর দেখ, রাজার তৃণ কাটিবার পরে সেই তৃণ উৎপন্ন হইতেছিল।
1Thus the Lord Yahweh showed me: and, behold, he formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, behold, it was the latter growth after the king's harvest.
2তাহারা ভূমির ওষধি নিঃশেষে ভোজন করিলে আমি কহিলাম, হে প্রভু সদাপ্রভু, বিনয় করি, ক্ষমা কর; যাকোব কিরূপে উঠিয়া দাঁড়াইবে? কেননা সে ক্ষুদ্র।
2It happened that, when they made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, "Lord Yahweh, forgive, I beg you! How could Jacob stand? For he is small."
3সদাপ্রভু তদ্বিষয়ে অনুশোচনা করিলেন; সদাপ্রভু বলিলেন, ইহা হইবে না।
3Yahweh relented concerning this. "It shall not be," says Yahweh.
4প্রভু সদাপ্রভু আমাকে এইরূপ দেখাইলেন; দেখ, প্রভু সদাপ্রভু বিবাদ জন্য অগ্নিকে আহ্বান করিলেন, আর সে মহাজলধিকে গ্রাস করিয়া ভূমি গ্রাস করিতে লাগিল।
4Thus the Lord Yahweh showed me and, behold, the Lord Yahweh called for judgment by fire; and it dried up the great deep, and would have devoured the land.
5তখন আমি কহিলাম, হে প্রভু সদাপ্রভু, বিনয় করি, ক্ষান্ত হও; যাকোব কিরূপে উঠিয়া দাঁড়াইবে? কেননা সে ক্ষুদ্র।
5Then I said, "Lord Yahweh, stop, I beg you! How could Jacob stand? For he is small."
6সদাপ্রভু তদ্বিষয়ে অনুশোচনা করিলেন; প্রভু সদাপ্রভু বলিলেন, ইহাও হইবে না।
6Yahweh relented concerning this. "This also shall not be," says the Lord Yahweh.
7তিনি আমাকে এইরূপ দেখাইলেন, দেখ, প্রভু ওলোন হস্তে লইয়া ওলোনের দ্বারা প্রস্তুত এক ভিত্তির উপরে দাঁড়াইয়া আছেন।
7Thus he showed me and, behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumb line, with a plumb line in his hand.
8আর সদাপ্রভু আমাকে কহিলেন, আমোষ, তুমি কি দেখিতেছ? আমি কহিলাম, ওলোন দেখিতেছি। তখন প্রভু কহিলেন, দেখ, আমি আপন প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে ওলোনসূত্র লাগাইতেছি, তাহাদিগকে আর অমনি ছাড়িয়া যাইব না।
8Yahweh said to me, "Amos, what do you see?" I said, "A plumb line." Then the Lord said, "Behold, I will set a plumb line in the midst of my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.
9আর ইস্‌হাকের উচ্চস্থলী সকল ধ্বংস হইবে, ইস্রায়েলের পুণ্যধাম সকল উৎসন্ন হইবে, এবং আমি খড়্‌গ লইয়া যারবিয়ামের কুলের বিরুদ্ধে উঠিব।
9The high places of Isaac will be desolate, the sanctuaries of Israel will be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword."
10তখন বৈথেলের যাজক অমৎসিয় ইস্রায়েল-রাজ যারবিয়ামের কাছে এই কথা বলিয়া পাঠাইল, আমোষ ইস্রায়েল-কুলের মধ্যে আপনার বিরুদ্ধে চক্রান্ত করিয়াছে, দেশ তাহার এত বাক্য সহিতে পারে না।
10Then Amaziah the priest of Beth El sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, "Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.
11কেননা আমোষ এই কথা কহিতেছে, যারবিয়াম খড়্‌গে নিহত হইবেন, ও ইস্রায়েল অবশ্য স্বদেশ হইতে নির্ব্বাসিত হইবে।
11For Amos says, 'Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.'"
12আর অমৎসিয় আমোষকে কহিল, হে দর্শক, তুমি যাও, যিহূদা দেশে পলায়ন কর, সেই স্থানে রুটী ভোজন কর, ও সেই স্থানে ভাববাণী বল;
12Amaziah also said to Amos, "You seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
13কিন্তু বৈথেলে আর কখনও ভাববাণী বলিও না, কেননা এ রাজার পুণ্যধাম ও রাজপুরী।
13but don't prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal house!"
14তখন আমোষ উত্তর করিয়া অমৎসিয়কে কহিলেন, আমি নিজে ভাববাদী ছিলাম না, ভাববাদীর সন্তানও ছিলাম না, কেবল গোপালক ও ডুমুরফল সংগ্রাহক ছিলাম।
14Then Amos answered Amaziah, "I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdsman, and a farmer of sycamore trees;
15কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু আমাকে পশুপালের অনুগমন হইতে লইলেন, এবং সদাপ্রভু আমাকে কহিলেন, যাও, আমার প্রজা ইস্রায়েলের কাছে ভাববাণী বল।
15and Yahweh took me from following the flock, and Yahweh said to me, 'Go, prophesy to my people Israel.'
16অতএব এখন তুমি সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য শুন, তুমি কহিতেছ, ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে ভাববাণী বলিও না, ইস্‌হাক-কুলের বিপরীতে বাক্য বর্ষাইও না;
16Now therefore listen to the word of Yahweh: 'You say, Don't prophesy against Israel, and don't preach against the house of Isaac.'
17এই জন্য সদাপ্রভু এই কথা কহেন, তোমার স্ত্রী নগরের মধ্যে বেশ্যা হইবে, তোমার পুত্রকন্যাগণ খড়্‌গে পতিত হইবে, তোমার ভূমি মানরজ্জু দ্বারা বিভক্ত হইবে, এবং তুমি নিজে অশুচি দেশে মরিবে, আর ইস্রায়েল স্বদেশ হইতে অবশ্য নির্ব্বাসিত হইবে।
17Therefore thus says Yahweh: 'Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line; and you yourself shall die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.'"
