তৎপরে অবশালোম আপনার নিমিত্ত রথ, অশ্ব ও আপনার অগ্রে অগ্রে দৌড়িবার জন্য পঞ্চাশ জন লোক রাখিল।

It happened after this, that Absalom prepared him a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him.

আর অবশালোম প্রত্যূষে উঠিয়া রাজদ্বারের পথিপার্শ্বে দাঁড়াইত; এবং যে কেহ বিচারার্থে রাজার নিকটে বিবাদ উপস্থিত করিতে উদ্যত হইত, অবশালোম তাহাকে ডাকিয়া জিজ্ঞাসা করিত, তুমি কোন্ নগরের লোক? সে বলিত, আপনার দাস আমি ইস্রায়েলের অমুক বংশের লোক।

Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him, and said, Of what city are you? He said, Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.

তখন অবশালোম তাহাকে বলিত, দেখ, তোমার বিবাদের কথা ভাল ও যথার্থ; কিন্তু তোমার কথা শ্রবণ করিতে রাজার কোন লোক নাই।

Absalom said to him, Behold, your matters are good and right; but there is no man deputized of the king to hear you.

অবশালোম আরও কহিত, হায়, আমাকে কেন দেশের বিচারকর্ত্তৃপদে নিযুক্ত করা হয় নাই? তাহা করিলে যে কোন ব্যক্তির বিবাদ বা বিচারের কোন কথা থাকে, সে আমার নিকটে আসিলে আমি তাহার বিষয়ে ন্যায্য বিচার করিতাম।

Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!

আর যে কেহ তাহার কাছে প্রণিপাত করিতে তাহার নিকটে আসিত, সে তাহাকে হস্ত প্রসারণপূর্ব্বক ধরিয়া চুম্বন করিত।

It was so, that when any man came near to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took hold of him, and kissed him.

ইস্রায়েলের যত লোক বিচারার্থে রাজার নিকটে যাইত, সকলের প্রতি অবশালোম এইরূপ ব্যবহার করিত। এই প্রকারে অবশালোম ইস্রায়েল লোকদের চিত্ত হরণ করিল।

In this manner Absalom did to all Israel who came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

পরে চারি বৎসর অতীত হইলে অবশালোম রাজাকে কহিল, বিনয় করি, আমি সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশে যাহা মানত করিয়াছি, তাহা পরিশোধ করিতে আমাকে হিব্রোণে যাইতে দিউন।

It happened at the end of forty years, that Absalom said to the king, please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to Yahweh, in Hebron.

কেননা আপনার দাস আমি যখন অরামস্থ গশূরে অবস্থিতি করিতেছিলাম, তখন মানত করিয়া বলিয়াছিলাম, যদি সদাপ্রভু আমাকে যিরূশালেমে ফিরাইয়া আনেন, তবে আমি সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করিব।

For your servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If Yahweh shall indeed bring me again to Jerusalem, then I will serve Yahweh.

রাজা কহিলেন, কুশলে যাও। তখন সে উঠিয়া হিব্রোণে গমন করিল।

The king said to him, Go in peace. So he arose, and went to Hebron.
10
কিন্তু অবশালোম ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত বংশের কাছে চর পাঠাইয়া বলিল, তূরীধ্বনি শুনিবামাত্র তোমরা বলিও, অবশালোম হিব্রোণে রাজা হইলেন।

But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, Absalom is king in Hebron.

আর যিরূশালেম হইতে দুই শত লোক অবশালোমের সহিত গেল; ইহারা আহূত হইয়াছিল, এবং সরল মনে গেল, কিছুই জ্ঞাত ছিল না।

With Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem, who were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they didn't know anything.

পরে অবশালোম বলিদান কালে দায়ূদের মন্ত্রী গীলোনীয় অহীথোফলকে তাহার নগর হইতে, গীলো হইতে, ডাকিয়া পাঠাইল। আর চক্রান্ত দৃঢ় হইল, কারণ অবশালোমের পক্ষীয় লোক উত্তর উত্তর বৃদ্ধি পাইতে লাগিল।

Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

পরে এক জন দায়ূদের কাছে আসিয়া এই সংবাদ দিল, ইস্রায়েল লোকদের অন্তঃকরণ অবশালোমের অনুগামী হইয়াছে।

There came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.
14
তখন দায়ূদের যে সকল দাস যিরূশালেমে তাঁহার নিকটে ছিল, তাহাদিগকে তিনি কহিলেন, আইস, আমরা উঠিয়া পলায়ন করি, কেননা অবশালোম হইতে আমাদের কাহারও বাঁচিবার যো নাই; শীঘ্র করিয়া চল, নতুবা সে সত্বর আমাদের সঙ্গ ধরিয়া আমাদিগকে বিপদ্গ্রস্ত করিবে, ও খড়্গধারে নগরে আঘাত করিবে।

David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for else none of us shall escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring down evil on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.

তাহাতে রাজার দাসগণ রাজাকে কহিল, দেখুন, আমাদের প্রভু মহারাজের যাহা ইচ্ছা হইবে, তাহাই করিতে আপনার দাসেরা প্রস্তুত আছে।

The king's servants said to the king, Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king shall choose.
16
পরে রাজা প্রস্থান করিলেন; এবং তাঁহার সমস্ত পরিজন তাঁহার পশ্চাতে পশ্চাতে চলিল; আর রাজা বাটী রক্ষার্থে দশটী উপপত্নীকে রাখিয়া গেলেন।

The king went forth, and all his household after him. The king left ten women, who were concubines, to keep the house.
17
রাজা প্রস্থান করিলেন, ও সমস্ত লোক তাঁহার পশ্চাতে পশ্চাতে চলিল, তাঁহারা বৈৎমির্হকে স্থগিত হইলেন।

The king went forth, and all the people after him; and they stayed in Beth Merhak.
18
পরে তাঁহার সকল দাস তাঁহার পার্শ্বে পার্শ্বে অগ্রসর হইল, এবং করেথীয় ও পলেথীয় সমস্ত লোক, আর গাতীয় সমস্ত লোক, তাঁহার পশ্চাতে পশ্চাতে গাৎ হইতে আগত ছয় শত লোক, রাজার সম্মুখে অগ্রসর হইল।

All his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.
19
তখন রাজা গাতীয় ইত্তয়কে কহিলেন, আমাদের সঙ্গে তুমিও কেন যাইবে? তুমি ফিরিয়া গিয়া রাজার সহিত বাস কর, কেননা তুমি বিদেশী এবং নির্ব্বাসিত লোক, তুমি স্বস্থানে ফিরিয়া যাও।

Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Why go you also with us? return, and abide with the king: for you are a foreigner, and also an exile; return to your own place.
20
তুমি কল্যমাত্র আসিয়াছ, অদ্য আমি কি তোমাকে আমাদের সহিত ভ্রমণ করাইব? আমি যেখানে পারি, সেখানে যাইব; তুমি ফিরিয়া যাও; আপন ভ্রাতৃগণকেও লইয়া যাও; দয়া ও সত্য তোমার সহবর্ত্তী হউক।

Whereas you came but yesterday, should I this day make you go up and down with us, seeing I go where I may? return you, and take back your brothers; mercy and truth be with you.
21
ইত্তয় রাজাকে উত্তর করিলেন, জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর দিব্য, এবং আমার প্রভু মহারাজের প্রাণের দিব্য, জীবনের জন্য হউক, কিম্বা মরণের জন্য হউক, আমার প্রভু মহারাজ যে স্থানে থাকিবেন, আপনার দাসও সেই স্থানে অবশ্য থাকিবে।

Ittai answered the king, and said, As Yahweh lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether for death or for life, even there also will your servant be.
22
দায়ূদ ইত্তয়কে কহিলেন, তবে চল, অগ্রসর হও। তখন গাতীয় ইত্তয়, তাঁহার সমস্ত লোক ও সঙ্গী সমস্ত বালকবালিকা অগ্রসর হইয়া গেল।

David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones who were with him.
23
দেশশুদ্ধ লোক উচ্চৈঃস্বরে রোদন করিল, ও সমস্ত লোক অগ্রসর হইল। রাজাও কিদ্রোণ স্রোত পার হইলেন, এবং সমস্ত লোক প্রান্তরের পথ ধরিয়া অগ্রসর হইল।

All the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.

আর দেখ, সাদোকও আসিলেন, এবং তাঁহার সঙ্গে লেবীয়েরা সকলে আসিল, তাহারা ঈশ্বরের নিয়ম-সিন্দুক বহন করিতেছিল; পরে নগর হইতে সমস্ত লোকেরা বাহির না হওয়া পর্য্যন্ত তাহারা ঈশ্বরের সিন্দুক নামাইয়া রাখিল, এবং অবিয়াথর উঠিয়া গেলেন।

Behold, Zadok also came, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.
25
পরে রাজা সাদোককে কহিলেন, তুমি ঈশ্বরের সিন্দুক পুনরায় নগরে লইয়া যাও; যদি সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে আমি অনুগ্রহ পাই, তবে তিনি আমাকে পুনর্ব্বার আনিয়া তাহা ও তাঁহার নিবাস দেখাইবেন।

The king said to Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favor in the eyes of Yahweh, he will bring me again, and show me both it, and his habitation:

কিন্তু যদি তিনি এই কথা বলেন, তোমাতে আমার সন্তোষ নাই, তবে দেখ, এই আমি, তাঁহার দৃষ্টিতে যাহা ভাল, আমার প্রতি তাহাই করুন।

but if he say thus, I have no delight in you; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seems good to him.
27
রাজা সাদোক যাজককে আরও কহিলেন, তুমি দেখিতেছ? তুমি কুশলে নগরে ফিরিয়া যাও, এবং তোমার পুত্র অহীমাস ও অবিয়াথরের পুত্র যোনাথন, তোমাদের এই দুই পুত্র তোমাদের সহিত যাউক।

The king said also to Zadok the priest, "Aren't you a seer? Return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

দেখ, যাবৎ তোমাদের নিকট হইতে আমার কাছে ঠিক সমাচার না আইসে, তাবৎ আমি প্রান্তরের পারঘাটায় থাকিয়া বিলম্ব করিব।

Behold, I will stay at the fords of the wilderness, until word comes from you to inform me."
29
অতএব সাদোক ও অবিয়াথর ঈশ্বরের সিন্দুক পুনরায় যিরূশালেমে লইয়া গিয়া সেই স্থানে রহিলেন।

Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they abode there.
30
পরে দায়ূদ জৈতুন পর্ব্বতের ঊর্দ্ধগামী পথ দিয়া উঠিলেন; তিনি উঠিবার সময়ে ক্রন্দন করিতে করিতে চলিলেন; তাঁহার মুখ আচ্ছাদিত ও পদ অনাবৃত ছিল, এবং তাঁহার সঙ্গী লোকেরা প্রত্যেকে আপন আপন মুখ আচ্ছাদন করিয়াছিল, এবং উঠিবার সময়ে রোদন করিতে করিতে চলিল।

David went up by the ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered, and went barefoot: and all the people who were with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.
31
পরে কেহ দায়ূদকে কহিল, অবশালোমের সঙ্গে চক্রান্তকারীদের মধ্যে অহীথোফলও আছে; তখন দায়ূদ কহিলেন, হে সদাপ্রভু, অনুগ্রহ করিয়া অহীথোফলের মন্ত্রণাকে মূর্খতায় পরিণত কর।

One told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. David said, Yahweh, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

পরে যে স্থানে লোকেরা ঈশ্বরের উদ্দেশে প্রণিপাত করিত, দায়ূদ পর্ব্বতের সেই শিখরে উপস্থিত হইলে দেখ, অর্কীয় হূশয় ছেঁড়া আঙ্গরাখা পরিয়া মাথায় মৃত্তিকা দিয়া দায়ূদের সহিত সাক্ষাৎ করিতে আসিলেন।

It happened that when David had come to the top of the ascent, where God was worshiped, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn, and earth on his head.

দায়ূদ তাঁহাকে কহিলেন, তুমি যদি আমার সহিত অগ্রসর হও, তবে আমাকে ভারগ্রস্ত করিবে।

David said to him, If you pass on with me, then you will be a burden to me:
34
কিন্তু যদি নগরে ফিরিয়া গিয়া অবশালোমকে বল, হে রাজন্, আমি আপনার দাস হইব, ইতিপূর্ব্বে যেমন আপনার পিতার দাস ছিলাম, তেমনি এখন আপনার দাস হইব, তাহা হইলে তুমি আমার জন্য অহীথোফলের মন্ত্রণা ব্যর্থ করিতে পারিবে।

but if you return to the city, and tell Absalom, I will be your servant, O king; as I have been your father's servant in time past, so will I now be your servant; then will you defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.

সে স্থানে সাদোক ও অবিয়াথর, এই দুই যাজক কি তোমার সহিত থাকিবেন না? অতএব তুমি রাজবাটীর যে কোন কথা শুনিবে, তাহা সাদোক ও অবিয়াথর যাজককে বলিবে।

Don't you have Zadok and Abiathar the priests there with you? therefore it shall be, that whatever thing you shall hear out of the king's house, you shall tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.
36
দেখ, সে স্থানে তাঁহাদের সহিত তাঁহাদের দুই পুত্র, সাদোকের পুত্র অহীমাস ও অবিয়াথরের পুত্র যোনাথন, আছে; তোমরা যে কোন কথা শুনিবে, তাহাদের দ্বারা আমার নিকটে তাহার সমাচার পাঠাইয়া দিবে।

Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok's son, and Jonathan, Abiathar's son; and by them you shall send to me everything that you shall hear.
37
অতএব দায়ূদের মিত্র হূশয় নগরে গেলেন; আর অবশালোম যিরূশালেমে প্রবেশ করিলেন।

So Hushai, David's friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
