1আহস বিংশতি বৎসর বয়সে রাজত্ব করিতে আরম্ভ করেন, এবং যিরূশালেমে ষোল বৎসর কাল রাজত্ব করেন; তিনি আপন পিতৃপুরুষ দায়ূদের ন্যায় সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যাহা ন্যায্য তাহা করিতেন না;
1Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and he didn't do that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, like David his father;
2কিন্তু ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের পথে চলিতেন, আর বাল দেবগণের উদ্দেশে ছাঁচে ঢালা প্রতিমা নির্ম্মাণ করাইলেন।
2but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and made also molten images for the Baals.
3আর তিনি হিন্নোমের পুত্রের উপত্যকাতে ধূপ জ্বালাইতেন, এবং সদাপ্রভুর ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানগণের সম্মুখ হইতে যে জাতিগণকে অধিকারচ্যুত করিয়াছিলেন, তাহাদের ঘৃণিত ক্রিয়ানুসারে তিনি আপন সন্তানদিগকে অগ্নিতে দগ্ধ করিলেন।
3Moreover he burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom Yahweh cast out before the children of Israel.
4আর তিনি নানা উচ্চস্থলীতে, নানা পাহাড়ের উপরে ও প্রত্যেক হরিৎপর্ণ বৃক্ষের তলে বলিদান করিতেন ও ধূপ জ্বালাইতেন।
4He sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
5অতএব তাঁহার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তাঁহাকে অরামরাজের হস্তে সমর্পণ করিলেন, তাহাতে অরামীয়েরা তাঁহাকে পরাজয় করিল, এবং তাঁহার অনেক লোককে বন্দি করিয়া দম্মেশকে লইয়া গেল। আবার তিনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজার হস্তেও সমর্পিত হইলেন, ইনিও মহাসংহারে তাঁহাকে পরাজয় করিলেন।
5Therefore Yahweh his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria; and they struck him, and carried away of his a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damascus. He was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who struck him with a great slaughter.
6কারণ রমলিয়ের পুত্র পেকহ যিহূদায় এক লক্ষ বিংশতি সহস্র বীর্য্যবান্‌ লোককে এক দিনে বধ করিলেন, যেহেতু তাহারা আপনাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে ত্যাগ করিয়াছিল।
6For Pekah the son of Remaliah killed in Judah one hundred twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men; because they had forsaken Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
7আর সিখ্রি নামে এক জন ইফ্রয়িমীয় বিক্রমশালী লোক রাজার পুত্র মাসেয়কে, বাটীর অধ্যক্ষ অস্রীকামকে ও রাজার প্রধান অমাত্য ইল্কানাকে বধ করিল।
7Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the ruler of the house, and Elkanah who was next to the king.
8আর ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানগণ আপনাদের ভ্রাতৃগণের স্ত্রী, পুত্র, কন্যা, দুই লক্ষ প্রাণীকে বন্দি করিয়া লইয়া গেল, এবং তাহাদের অনেক দ্রব্যও লুট করিল, আর সেই সকল লুটিত বস্তু শমরিয়াতে লইয়া গেল।
8The children of Israel carried away captive of their brothers two hundred thousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also away much spoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.
9কিন্তু তথায় ওদেদ নামে সদাপ্রভুর এক জন ভাববাদী ছিলেন; তিনি শমরিয়াতে প্রত্যাগত সৈন্যসামন্তের সহিত সাক্ষাৎ করিতে বাহির হইয়া তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, দেখ, তোমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু যিহূদার উপরে ক্রুদ্ধ হওয়াতে তোমাদের হস্তে তাহাদিগকে সমর্পণ করিয়াছেন, আর তোমরা গগনস্পর্শী ক্রোধাগ্নি দ্বারা তাহাদিগকে বধ করিয়াছ।
9But a prophet of Yahweh was there, whose name was Oded: and he went out to meet the host that came to Samaria, and said to them, Behold, because Yahweh, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he has delivered them into your hand, and you have slain them in a rage which has reached up to heaven.
10আর এখন যিহূদার ও যিরূশালেমের লোকদিগকে আপনাদের দাস দাসী করিয়া বশে রাখিবার মানস করিতেছ; কিন্তু তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে তোমাদের নিজেরও কি দোষ নাই?
10Now you purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondservants and bondmaids to you: but aren't there even with you trespasses of your own against Yahweh your God?
11অতএব এখন আমার কথা শুন; তোমরা আপনাদের ভ্রাতৃগণ হইতে যাহাদিগকে বন্দি করিয়া আনিয়াছ, তাহাদিগকে ফিরিয়া পাঠাইয়া দেও; কেননা সদাপ্রভুর প্রচণ্ড ক্রোধ তোমাদের উপরে রহিয়াছে।
11Now hear me therefore, and send back the captives, that you have taken captive of your brothers; for the fierce wrath of Yahweh is on you.
12তখন ইফ্রয়িম-সন্তানগণের মধ্যে কয়েক জন প্রধান লোক, অর্থাৎ যিহোহাননের পুত্র অসরিয়, মশিল্লেমোতের পুত্র বেরিখিয়, শল্লুমের পুত্র যিহিষ্কিয় ও হদ্‌লয়ের পুত্র অমাসা যুদ্ধযাত্রা হইতে প্রত্যাগত লোকদের বিপক্ষে উঠিলেন,
12Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against those who came from the war,
13এবং তাহাদিগকে কহিলেন, তোমরা বন্দিদিগকে এ স্থানে আনিও না; কেননা আমাদের পাপ ও দোষ সকলের উপরে, তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর নিকটে আমাদিগকে [আরও] দোষগ্রস্ত করিতে মানস করিতেছ; আমাদের ত মহাদোষ হইয়াছে, ও ইস্রায়েলের উপরে সদাপ্রভুর প্রচণ্ড ক্রোধ রহিয়াছে।
13and said to them, You shall not bring in the captives here: for you purpose that which will bring on us a trespass against Yahweh, to add to our sins and to our trespass; for our trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.
14তখন অস্ত্রধারী লোকেরা সেই বন্দিদিগকে ও লুঠিত বস্তু সকল অধ্যক্ষদের ও সমস্ত সমাজের সম্মুখে রাখিল।
14So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princes and all the assembly.
15পরে উপরি উক্ত নাম বিশিষ্ট পুরুষেরা উঠিয়া বন্দিদিগকে লইয়া লুটিত বস্তু দ্বারা, তাহাদের মধ্যে যাহারা উলঙ্গ ছিল, সকলকে পরিচ্ছন্ন করিলেন, তাহাদের গাত্রে বস্ত্র ও পায়ে পাদুকা দিলেন, তাহাদিগকে ভোজন পান করাইলেন, তাহাদের গাত্রে তৈল মর্দ্দন করাইলেন, এবং অসমর্থ সকলকে গর্দ্দভে চড়াইয়া খর্জ্জুরপুর যিরীহোতে তাহাদের ভ্রাতাদের নিকটে তাহাদিগকে লইয়া গেলেন; পরে আপনারা শমরিয়াতে ফিরিয়া গেলেন।
15The men who have been mentioned by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoil clothed all who were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them on donkeys, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brothers: then they returned to Samaria.
16ঐ সময়ে আহস রাজা সাহায্য প্রার্থনা করিতে অশূর-রাজগণের নিকটে লোক পাঠাইলেন।
16At that time did king Ahaz send to the kings of Assyria to help him.
17কারণ ইদোমীয়েরা পুনর্ব্বার আসিয়া যিহূদাকে আঘাত করিয়া অনেক লোক বন্দি করিয়া লইয়া গিয়াছিল।
17For again the Edomites had come and struck Judah, and carried away captives.
18আর পলেষ্টীয়েরা নিম্নভূমির ও যিহূদার দক্ষিণাঞ্চলের নগর সকল আক্রমণ করিয়া বৈৎশেমশ, অয়ালোন, গদেরোৎ, সোখো ও তাহার উপনগরগুলি, তিম্না ও তাহার উপনগরগুলি, এবং গিম্‌সো ও তাহার উপনগরগুলি হস্তগত করিয়া সেই সকল স্থানে বসতি করিয়াছিল।
18The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland, and of the South of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Soco with the towns of it, and Timnah with the towns of it, Gimzo also and the towns of it: and they lived there.
19কেননা ইস্রায়েল-রাজ আহসের জন্য সদাপ্রভু যিহূদাকে নত করিলেন, কারণ তিনি যিহূদায় স্বেচ্ছাচার এবং সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে নিতান্তই সত্যলঙ্ঘন করিয়াছিলেন।
19For Yahweh brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel; for he had dealt wantonly in Judah, and trespassed severely against Yahweh.
20আর অশূর-রাজ তিল্‌গৎ-পিল্‌নেষর তাঁহার নিকটে আসিলেন বটে, কিন্তু তাঁহার বলবৃদ্ধি না করিয়া তাঁহাকে ক্লেশ দিলেন।
20Tilgath Pilneser king of Assyria came to him, and distressed him, but didn't strengthen him.
21বস্তুতঃ আহস সদাপ্রভুর গৃহের, রাজবাটীর ও অধ্যক্ষদের কতক ধন লইয়া অশূর-রাজকে দিলেও তাঁহার কিছু সাহায্য হইল না।
21For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of Yahweh, and out of the house of the king and of the princes, and gave it to the king of Assyria: but it didn't help him.
22আর ক্লেশের সময়ে তিনি, সেই আহস রাজা, সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে আরও সত্যলঙ্ঘন করিলেন।
22In the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against Yahweh, this same king Ahaz.
23কারণ দম্মেশকের যে দেবগণ তাঁহাকে আঘাত করিয়াছিল, তিনি তাহাদের উদ্দেশে বলিদান করিলেন; আর কহিলেন, অরামীয় রাজাদের দেবগণই তাঁহাদের সাহায্য করেন, অতএব আমি তাঁহাদেরই উদ্দেশে বলিদান করিব, তাহাতে তাঁহারা আমারও সাহায্য করিবেন। কিন্তু তাহারাই তাঁহার ও সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের বিনাশের কারণ হইল।
23For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, which struck him; and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
24পরে আহস ঈশ্বরের গৃহের পাত্র সকল একত্র করিলেন, ঈশ্বরের গৃহের সেই সকল পাত্র কাটিয়া খণ্ড খণ্ড করিলেন, সদাপ্রভুর গৃহের কবাট সকল রুদ্ধ করিলেন, এবং যিরূশালেমের প্রত্যেক কোণে আপনার জন্য যজ্ঞবেদি নির্ম্মাণ করিলেন।
24Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of Yahweh; and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.
25আর তিনি অন্য দেবগণের উদ্দেশে ধূপ-জ্বালাইবার নিমিত্ত যিহূদার প্রত্যেক নগরে উচ্চস্থলী নির্ম্মাণ করিলেন; এইরূপে তিনি আপন পিতৃপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে অসন্তুষ্ট করিলেন।
25In every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked to anger Yahweh, the God of his fathers.
26তাঁহার অবশিষ্ট কর্ম্মের বৃত্তান্ত ও আদ্যোপান্ত সমস্ত চরিত্র, দেখ, যিহূদা ও ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস-পুস্তকে লিখিত আছে।
26Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
27পরে আহস আপন পিতৃলোকদের সহিত নিদ্রাগত হইলেন, আর লোকেরা তাঁহাকে নগরে অর্থাৎ যিরূশালেমে কবর দিল, ইস্রায়েল-রাজগণের কবরে লইয়া যায় নাই; পরে তাঁহার পুত্র হিষ্কিয় তাঁহার পদে রাজা হইলেন।
27Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem; for they didn't bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
