1যিহোশাফট অতিশয় ঐশ্বর্য্যবান্‌ ও প্রতাপান্বিত হইলেন, আর তিনি আহাবের সহিত কুটুম্বিতা করিলেন।
1Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he joined affinity with Ahab.
2কয়েক বৎসর পরে তিনি শমরিয়াতে আহাবের নিকটে গেলেন; আর আহাব তাঁহার নিমিত্ত ও তাঁহার সঙ্গী লোকদের নিমিত্ত অনেক মেষ ও বলদ মারিলেন, এবং রামোৎ-গিলিয়দে যাইতে তাঁহাকে প্ররোচিত করিলেন।
2After certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead.
3আর ইস্রায়েল-রাজ আহাব যিহূদা-রাজ যিহোশাফটকে কহিলেন, আপনি কি রামোৎ-গিলিয়দে আমার সঙ্গে যাইবেন? তিনি উত্তর করিলেন, আমি ও আপনি এবং আমার লোক ও আপনার লোক, সকলেই এক, আমরা যুদ্ধে আপনার সঙ্গী হইব।
3Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? He answered him, I am as you are, and my people as your people; and we will be with you in the war.
4পরে যিহোশাফট ইস্রায়েলের রাজাকে কহিলেন, বিনয় করি, অদ্য সদাপ্রভুর বাক্যের অন্বেষণ করুন।
4Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Please inquire first for the word of Yahweh.
5তাহাতে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা ভাববাদিগণকে, চারি শত জনকে, একত্র করিয়া জিজ্ঞাসা করিলেন, আমরা রামোৎ-গিলিয়দে যুদ্ধযাত্রা করিব, না আমি ক্ষান্ত হইব? তখন তাহারা কহিল, যাত্রা করুন, ঈশ্বর তাহা মহারাজের হস্তে সমর্পণ করিবেন।
5Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? They said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.
6কিন্তু যিহোশাফট কহিলেন, ইহাদের ছাড়া সদাপ্রভুর এমন কোন ভাববাদী কি এ স্থানে নাই যে, আমরা তাঁহারই কাছে অন্বেষণ করিতে পারি?
6But Jehoshaphat said, Isn't there here a prophet of Yahweh besides, that we may inquire of him?
7ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোশাফটকে কহিলেন, আমরা যাহার দ্বারা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে অন্বেষণ করিতে পারি, এমন আর এক জন আছে, কিন্তু আমি তাহাকে ঘৃণা করি, কেননা আমার উদ্দেশে সে কখনই মঙ্গলের নয়, সর্ব্বদাই কেবল অমঙ্গলের ভাবোক্তি প্রচার করে; সে ব্যক্তি যিম্লের পুত্র মীখায়। যিহোশাফট কহিলেন, মহারাজ, এমন কথা কহিবেন না।
7The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh: but I hate him; for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. Jehoshaphat said, Don't let the king say so.
8তখন ইস্রায়েলের রাজা এক জন কর্ম্মচারীকে ডাকিয়া আজ্ঞা দিলেন, যিম্লের পুত্র মীখায়কে শীঘ্র লইয়া আইস।
8Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Get quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.
9সেই সময়ে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা ও যিহূদা-রাজ যিহোশাফট আপন আপন রাজবস্ত্র পরিধান করিয়া আপন আপন সিংহাসনে বসিয়াছিলেন, তাঁহারা শমরিয়ার দ্বার-প্রবেশস্থানের খোলা জায়গায় বসিয়াছিলেন, এবং তাঁহাদের সম্মুখে ভাববাদীরা সকলে ভাবোক্তি প্রচার করিতেছিল।
9Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
10আর কনানার পুত্র সিদিকিয় লৌহময় শৃঙ্গযুগল নির্ম্মাণ করিয়া কহিল, সদাপ্রভু এই কথা কহেন, ‘ইহা দ্বারা আপনি অরামের বিনাশ সাধন পর্য্যন্ত গুঁতাইবেন’।
10Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, Thus says Yahweh, With these shall you push the Syrians, until they be consumed.
11আর ভাববাদীরা সকলেই তদ্রূপ ভাবোক্তি প্রচার করিল, কহিল, আপনি রামোৎ-গিলিয়দে যাত্রা করুন, কৃতকার্য্য হউন, কেননা সদাপ্রভু তাহা মহারাজের হস্তে সমর্পণ করিবেন।
11All the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh will deliver it into the hand of the king.
12আর যে দূত মীখায়কে ডাকিতে গিয়াছিল, সে তাঁহাকে কহিল, দেখুন, ভাববাদিগণের বাক্য সকল এক মুখে রাজার পক্ষে মঙ্গলসূচনা করে; অতএব বিনয় করি, আপনার বাক্য উহাদের কোন এক জনের বাক্যের সমানার্থক হউক, আপনি মঙ্গলসূচক কথা বলুন।
12The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth: let your word therefore, Please be like one of theirs, and speak you good.
13মীখায় কহিলেন, জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর দিব্য, আমার ঈশ্বর যাহা বলেন, আমি তাহাই বলিব।
13Micaiah said, As Yahweh lives, what my God says, that will I speak.
14পরে তিনি রাজার নিকটে আসিলে রাজা তাঁহাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করিলেন, মীখায়, আমরা রামোৎ-গিলিয়দে যুদ্ধ করিতে যাইব, না আমি ক্ষান্ত হইব? তিনি কহিলেন, আপনারা যাত্রা করুন, কৃতকার্য্য হউন; তথাকার লোকেরা আপনাদের হস্তে সমর্পিত হইবে।
14When he was come to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? He said, Go up, and prosper; and they shall be delivered into your hand.
15রাজা তাঁহাকে কহিলেন, তুমি সদাপ্রভুর নামে আমাকে সত্য ব্যতিরেকে আর কিছুই বলিবে না, আমি কত বার তোমাকে এই শপথ করাইব?
15The king said to him, How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Yahweh?
16তখন তিনি কহিলেন, আমি সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলকে অরক্ষক মেষপালের ন্যায় পর্ব্বতগণের উপরে ছিন্নভিন্ন দেখিলাম, এবং সদাপ্রভু কহিলেন, উহাদের স্বামী নাই; উহারা প্রত্যেকে কুশলে আপন আপন বাটীতে ফিরিয়া যাউক।
16He said, I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and Yahweh said, These have no master; let them return every man to his house in peace.
17তখন ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোশাফটকে কহিলেন, আমি কি অগ্রেই আপনাকে বলি নাই যে, এই ব্যক্তি আমার উদ্দেশে মঙ্গলের নয়, কেবল অমঙ্গলের ভাবোক্তি প্রচার করে?
17The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Didn't I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?
18আর মীখায় কহিলেন, এ জন্য আপনারা সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য শুনুন; আমি দেখিলাম, সদাপ্রভু তাঁহার সিংহাসনে উপবিষ্ট, আর তাঁহার দক্ষিণে ও বামে স্বর্গের সমস্ত বাহিনী দণ্ডায়মান।
18Micaiah said, Therefore hear you the word of Yahweh: I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
19পরে সদাপ্রভু কহিলেন, ইস্রায়েল-রাজ আহাব যেন যাত্রা করিয়া রামোৎ-গিলিয়দে পতিত হয়, এই জন্য কে তাহাকে মুগ্ধ করিবে? তাহাতে কেহ এক প্রকারে, কেহ বা অন্য প্রকারে কহিল।
19Yahweh said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? One spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.
20শেষে এক আত্মা গিয়া সদাপ্রভুর সম্মুখে দাঁড়াইয়া কহিল, আমি তাহাকে মুগ্ধ করিব।
20There came forth a spirit, and stood before Yahweh, and said, I will entice him. Yahweh said to him, 'How?'
21সদাপ্রভু কহিলেন, কিসে? সে কহিল, আমি গিয়া তাহার সমস্ত ভাববাদীর মুখে মিথ্যাবাদী আত্মা হইব। তখন তিনি কহিলেন, তুমি তাহাকে মুগ্ধ করিবে, কৃতকার্য্যও হইবে; যাও, সেইরূপ কর। অতএব দেখুন,
21He said, 'I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' He said, 'You shall entice him, and shall prevail also: go forth, and do so.'
22সদাপ্রভু আপনার এই সমস্ত ভাববাদীর মুখে মিথ্যাবাদী আত্মা দিয়াছেন; আর সদাপ্রভু আপনার বিষয়ে অমঙ্গলের কথা কহিয়াছেন।
22Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you.
23তখন কনানার পুত্র সিদিকিয় নিকটে আসিয়া মীখায়ের গালে চড় মারিয়া কহিল, সদাপ্রভুর আত্মা তোর সঙ্গে কথা কহিবার জন্য আমার নিকট হইতে কোন্‌ পথে গিয়াছিলেন?
23Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of Yahweh from me to speak to you?
24মীখায় কহিলেন, দেখ, যে দিন তুমি লুকাইবার জন্য এক ভিতরের কুঠরীতে যাইবে, সেই দিন তাহা জানিবে।
24Micaiah said, Behold, you shall see on that day, when you shall go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.
25পরে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা বলিলেন, মীখায়কে ধরিয়া পুনরায় নগরাধ্যক্ষ আমোনের ও রাজপুত্র যোয়াশের নিকটে লইয়া যাও।
25The king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;
26আর বল, রাজা এই কথা কহেন, ইহাকে কারাগারে বদ্ধ করিয়া রাখ, এবং যে পর্য্যন্ত আমি কুশলে ফিরিয়া না আসি, সে পর্য্যন্ত ইহাকে আহারার্থে কষ্টযুক্ত অন্ন ও কষ্টযুক্ত জল দেও।
26and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.
27মীখায় কহিলেন, যদি আপনি কোন মতে কুশলে ফিরিয়া আইসেন, তবে সদাপ্রভু আমার দ্বারা কথা কহেন নাই। আর তিনি কহিলেন, হে জাতিগণ, তোমরা সকলে শ্রবণ কর।
27Micaiah said, If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me. He said, Hear, you peoples, all of you.
28পরে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা ও যিহূদা-রাজ যিহোশাফট রামোৎ-গিলিয়দে যাত্রা করিলেন।
28So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
29আর ইস্রায়েলের রাজা যিহোশাফটকে কহিলেন, আমি অন্য বেশ ধারণ করিয়া যুদ্ধে প্রবেশ করিব, আপনি রাজবস্ত্র পরিধান করুন। পরে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা অন্য বেশ ধরিলে তাঁহারা যুদ্ধে প্রবেশ করিলেন।
29The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but put you on your robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.
30অরামের রাজা আপন রথাধ্যক্ষ সেনাপতিগণকে এই আজ্ঞা দিয়াছিলেন, তোমরা কেবল ইস্রায়েলের রাজা ব্যতিরেকে ক্ষুদ্র কি মহান্‌ আর কাহারও সহিত যুদ্ধ করিও না।
30Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.
31পরে রথাধ্যক্ষগণ যিহোশাফটকে দেখিয়া উনিই অবশ্য ইস্রায়েলের রাজা, এই বলিয়া তাঁহার সহিত যুদ্ধ করিবার জন্য ঘুরিয়া আসিলেন; তখন যিহোশাফট চেঁচাইয়া উঠিলেন, আর সদাপ্রভু তাঁহার সাহায্য করিলেন, এবং ঈশ্বর তাঁহার নিকট হইতে তাঁহাদিগকে যাইতে প্রবৃত্তি দিলেন।
31It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they turned about to fight against him: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
32বস্তুতঃ রথাধ্যক্ষগণ যখন দেখিলেন, ইনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজা নহেন, তখন তাঁহার পশ্চাদগমন হইতে ফিরিয়া গেলেন।
32It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
33কিন্তু একটা লোক লক্ষ্য ব্যতিরেকে ধনুক আকর্ষণ করিয়া ইস্রায়েলের রাজার উদর-ত্রাণের ও বুকপাটার সন্ধিস্থানে বাণাঘাত করিল; তাহাতে তিনি আপন সারথিকে কহিলেন, হস্ত ফিরাইয়া সৈন্যদলের মধ্য হইতে আমাকে লইয়া যাও, আমি দারুণ আঘাত পাইয়াছি।
33A certain man drew his bow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, Turn your hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am sore wounded.
34সেই দিবস তুমুল যুদ্ধ হইল; আর ইস্রায়েলের রাজা অরামীয়দের সম্মুখে সন্ধ্যাকাল পর্য্যন্ত রথে আপনাকে দণ্ডায়মান রাখিলেন, কিন্তু সূর্য্যাস্তকালে মরিয়া গেলেন।
34The battle increased that day: however the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even; and about the time of the going down of the sun he died.
