1যে কেহ বিশ্বাস করে যে, যীশুই সেই খ্রীষ্ট, সে ঈশ্বর হইতে জাত; এবং যে কেহ জন্মদাতাকে প্রেম করে, সে তাঁহা হইতে জাত ব্যক্তিকেও প্রেম করে।
1Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the father also loves the child who is born of him.
2ইহাতে আমরা জানিতে পারি যে, ঈশ্বরের সন্তানগণকে প্রেম করি, যখন ঈশ্বরকে প্রেম করি ও তাঁহার আজ্ঞা সকল পালন করি।
2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.
3কেননা ঈশ্বরের প্রতি প্রেম এই, যেন আমরা তাঁহার আজ্ঞা সকল পালন করি; আর তাঁহার আজ্ঞা সকল দুর্ব্বহ নয়;
3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.
4কারণ যাহা কিছু ঈশ্বর হইতে জাত, তাহা জগৎকে জয় করে; এবং যে জয় জগৎকে জয় করিয়াছে, তাহা এই, আমাদের বিশ্বাস।
4For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.
5কে জগৎকে জয় করে? কেবল সেই, যে বিশ্বাস করে, যীশু ঈশ্বরের পুত্র।
5Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6তিনি সেই, যিনি জল ও রক্ত দিয়া আসিয়াছিলেন, যীশু খ্রীষ্ট; কেবল জলে নয়, কিন্তু জলে ও রক্তে।
6This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
7আর আত্মাই সাক্ষ্য দিতেছেন, কারণ আত্মা সেই সত্য।
7For there are three who testify:
8বস্তুতঃ তিনে সাক্ষ্য দিতেছেন, আত্মা ও জল ও রক্ত, এবং সেই তিনের সাক্ষ্য একই।
8the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.
9আমরা যদি মনুষ্যদের সাক্ষ্য গ্রহণ করি, তবে ঈশ্বরের সাক্ষ্য মহত্তর; ফলতঃ ঈশ্বরের সাক্ষ্য এই যে, তিনি আপন পুত্রের বিষয়ে সাক্ষ্য দিয়াছেন।
9If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God's testimony which he has testified concerning his Son.
10ঈশ্বরের পুত্রে যে বিশ্বাস করে, ঐ সাক্ষ্য তাহার অন্তরে থাকে; ঈশ্বরে যে বিশ্বাস না করে, সে তাঁহাকে মিথ্যাবাদী করিয়াছে; কারণ ঈশ্বর আপন পুত্রের বিষয়ে যে সাক্ষ্য দিয়াছেন, তাহা সে বিশ্বাস করে নাই।
10He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who doesn't believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son.
11আর সেই সাক্ষ্য এই যে, ঈশ্বর আমাদিগকে অনন্ত জীবন দিয়াছেন, এবং সেই জীবন তাঁহার পুত্রে আছে।
11The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12পুত্রকে যে পাইয়াছে সে সেই জীবন পাইয়াছে; ঈশ্বরের পুত্রকে যে পায় নাই, সে সেই জীবন পায় নাই।
12He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn't have God's Son doesn't have the life.
13তোমরা যাহারা ঈশ্বরের পুত্রের নামে বিশ্বাস করিতেছ, আমি তোমাদিগকে এই সকল কথা লিখিলাম, যেন তোমরা জানিতে পার যে, তোমরা অনন্ত জীবন পাইয়াছ।
13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
14আর তাঁহার উদ্দেশে আমরা এই সাহস প্রাপ্ত হইয়াছি যে, যদি তাঁহার ইচ্ছানুসারে কিছু যাচ্ঞা করি, তবে তিনি আমাদের যাচ্ঞা শুনেন।
14This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.
15আর যদি জানি যে, আমরা যাহা যাচ্ঞা করি, তিনি তাহা শুনেন, তবে ইহাও জানি যে, আমরা তাঁহার কাছে যাহা যাচ্ঞা করিয়াছি, সেই সকল পাইয়াছি।
15And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
16যদি কেহ আপন ভ্রাতাকে এমন পাপ করিতে দেখে, যাহা মৃত্যুজনক নয়, তবে সে যাচ্ঞা করিবে, এবং [ঈশ্বর] তাহাকে জীবন দিবেন—যাহারা মৃত্যুজনক পাপ করে না, তাহাদিগকেই দিবেন। মৃত্যুজনক পাপ আছে, সে বিষয়ে আমি বলি না যে, তাহাকে বিনতি করিতে হইবে।
16If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death. I don't say that he should make a request concerning this.
17সমস্ত অধার্ম্মিকতাই পাপ; আর এমন পাপ আছে, যাহা মৃত্যুজনক নয়।
17All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.
18আমরা জানি, যে কেহ ঈশ্বর হইতে জাত, সে পাপ করে না, কিন্তু যে ঈশ্বর হইতে জাত, সে আপনাকে রক্ষা করে, এবং সেই পাপাত্মা তাহাকে স্পর্শ করে না।
18We know that whoever is born of God doesn't sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn't touch him.
19আমরা জানি যে, আমরা ঈশ্বর হইতে; আর সমস্ত জগৎ সেই পাপাত্মার মধ্যে শুইয়া রহিয়াছে।
19We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
20আর আমরা জানি যে, ঈশ্বরের পুত্র আসিয়াছেন, এবং আমাদিগকে এমন বুদ্ধি দিয়াছেন, যাহাতে আমরা সেই সত্যময়কে জানি; এবং আমরা সেই সত্যময়ে, তাঁহার পুত্র যীশু খ্রীষ্টে আছি; তিনিই সত্যময় ঈশ্বর এবং অনন্ত জীবন।
20We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
21বৎসেরা, তোমরা প্রতিমাগণ হইতে আপনাদিগকে রক্ষা কর।
21Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
