কারণ, হে ভ্রাতৃগণ, আমার ইচ্ছা নয় যে, তোমরা অজ্ঞাত থাক যে, আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষেরা সকলে সেই মেঘের নীচে ছিলেন, ও সকলে সমুদ্রের মধ্য দিয়া গমন করিয়াছিলেন;

Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2
এবং সকলে মোশির উদ্দেশে মেঘে ও সমুদ্রে বাপ্তাইজিত হইয়াছিলেন,

and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3
এবং সকলে একই আত্মিক ভক্ষ্য ভোজন করিয়াছিলেন;

and all ate the same spiritual food;
4
আর, সকলে একই আত্মিক পেয় পান করিয়াছিলেন; কারণ, তাঁহারা এমন এক আত্মিক শৈল হইতে পান করিতেন, যাহা তাহাদের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে যাইতেছিল; আর সেই শৈল খ্রীষ্ট।

and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.

কিন্তু তাঁহাদের মধ্যে অধিকাংশ লোকের প্রতি ঈশ্বর প্রীত হন নাই; ফলতঃ তাঁহারা প্রান্তরে নিপাতিত হইলেন।

However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

এই সকল বিষয় আমাদের দৃষ্টান্তস্বরূপে ঘটিয়াছিল, যেন তাঁহারা যেমন অভিলাষ করিয়াছিলেন, আমরা তেমনি মন্দ বিষয়ের অভিলাষ না করি।

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

আবার যেমন তাঁহাদের মধ্যে কতক লোক হইয়াছিল, তোমরা তেমনি প্রতিমাপূজক হইও না; যথা লিখিত আছে, “লোকেরা ভোজন পান করিতে বসিল, পরে ক্রীড়া করিতে উঠিল।”

Neither be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."

আর যেমন তাঁহাদের মধ্য কতক লোক ব্যভিচার করিয়াছিল, এবং এক দিনে তেইশ হাজার লোক মারা পড়িল, আমরা যেন তেমনি ব্যভিচার না করি।

Neither let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.

আর যেমন তাঁহাদের মধ্যে কতক লোক পরীক্ষা করিয়াছিল, এবং সর্পের দ্বারা বিনষ্ট হইয়াছিল, আমরা যেন তেমনি প্রভুর পরীক্ষা না করি।

Neither let us test the Lord, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.

আর যেমন তাঁহাদের মধ্যে কতক লোক বচসা করিয়াছিল, এবং সংহারকের দ্বারা বিনষ্ট হইয়াছিল, তোমরা তেমনি বচসা করিও না।

Neither grumble , as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.

এই সকল তাহাদের প্রতি দৃষ্টান্তস্বরূপে ঘটিয়াছিল, এবং আমাদেরই চেতনার জন্য লিখিত হইল; আমাদের, যাহাদের উপরে যুগকলাপের অন্ত আসিয়া পড়িয়াছে।

Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

অতএব যে মনে করে, আমি দাঁড়াইয়া আছি, সে সাবধান হউক, পাছে পড়িয়া যায়।

Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn't fall.

মনুষ্য যাহা সহ্য করিতে পারে, তাহা ছাড়া অন্য পরীক্ষা তোমাদের প্রতি ঘটে নাই; আর ঈশ্বর বিশ্বাস্য; তিনি তোমাদের প্রতি তোমাদের শক্তির অতিরিক্ত পরীক্ষা ঘটিতে দিবেন না, বরং পরীক্ষার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে রক্ষার পথও করিয়া দিবেন, যেন তোমরা সহ্য করিতে পার।

No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

অতএব, হে আমার প্রিয়েরা, প্রতিমাপূজা হইতে পলায়ন কর।

Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
15
আমি তোমাদিগকে বুদ্ধিমান্ জানিয়া বলিতেছি; আমি যাহা বলি, তোমরাই বিচার কর।

I speak as to wise men. Judge what I say.
16
আমরা ধন্যবাদের যে পানপাত্র লইয়া ধন্যবাদ করি, তাহা কি খ্রীষ্টের রক্তের সহভাগিতা নয়? আমরা যে রুটী ভাঙ্গি, তাহা কি খ্রীষ্টের শরীরের সহভাগিতা নয়?

The cup of blessing which we bless, isn't it a communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn't it a communion of the body of Christ?
17
কারণ অনেকে যে আমরা, আমরা এক রুটী, এক শরীর; কেননা আমরা সকলে সেই এক রুটীর অংশী।

Because we, who are many, are one bread, one body; for we all partake of the one bread.

মাংসের সম্বন্ধে যাহারা ইস্রায়েল, তাহাদিগকে দেখ; যাহারা বলি ভোজন করে, তাহারা কি যজ্ঞবেদির সহভাগী নয়?

Consider Israel after the flesh. Don't those who eat the sacrifices have communion with the altar?

তবে আমি কি বলিতেছি? প্রতিমার কাছে উৎসৃষ্ট বলি কি কিছুরই মধ্যে গণ্য? অথবা প্রতিমা কি কিছুরই মধ্যে গণ্য?

What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
20
বরং পরজাতিগণ যাহা যাহা বলিদান করে, তাহা ভূতদের উদ্দেশে বলিদান করে, ঈশ্বরের উদ্দেশে নয়; আর আমার এমন ইচ্ছা নয় যে, তোমরা ভূতদের সহভাগী হও।

But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I don't desire that you would have communion with demons.
21
প্রভুর পানপাত্র ও ভূতদের পানপাত্র, তোমরা এই উভয় পাত্রে পান করিতে পার না; প্রভুর মেজ ও ভূতদের মেজ, তোমরা এই উভয় মেজের অংশী হইতে পার না।

You can't both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can't both partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.

অথবা আমরা কি প্রভুর অন্তর্জ্বালা জন্মাইতেছি? তাঁহা হইতে কি আমরা বলবান্?

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
23
সকলই বিধেয়, কিন্তু সকলই যে হিতজনক, তাহা নয়; সকলই বিধেয়, কিন্তু সকলই যে গাঁথিয়া তুলে, তাহা নয়।

"All things are lawful for me," but not all things are profitable. "All things are lawful for me," but not all things build up.
24
কেহই স্বার্থ চেষ্টা না করুক, বরং প্রত্যেক জন পরের মঙ্গল চেষ্টা করুক।

Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor's good.
25
যে কোন দ্রব্য বাজারে বিক্রয় হয়, সংবেদের জন্য কিছু জিজ্ঞাসা না করিয়া তাহা ভোজন করিও;

Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,

যেহেতুক “পৃথিবী ও তাহার সমস্ত বস্তু প্রভুরই।”

for "the earth is the Lord's, and its fullness."

অবিশ্বাসীদের মধ্যে কেহ যদি তোমাদিগকে নিমন্ত্রণ করে, আর তোমরা যাইতে ইচ্ছা কর, তবে সংবেদের জন্য কিছুই জিজ্ঞাসা না করিয়া, যে কোন সামগ্রী তোমাদের সম্মুখে রাখা হয়, তাহাই ভোজন করিও।

But if one of those who don't believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.

কিন্তু যদি কেহ তোমাদিগকে বলে, এ প্রতিমার কাছে উৎসৃষ্ট বলি, তবে যে জানাইল, তাহার জন্য, এবং সংবেদের জন্য তাহা ভোজন করিও না।

But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," don't eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For "the earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness."

যে সংবেদের কথা আমি বলিলাম, তাহা তোমার নয়, কিন্তু সেই অন্য ব্যক্তির। কারণ আমার স্বাধীনতা কেন পরের সংবেদের দ্বারা বিচারিত হইবে?

Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other's conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?

যদি আমি ধন্যবাদের সহিত ভোজন করি, তবে যাহার নিমিত্তে আমি ধন্যবাদ করি, তাহার জন্য কেন নিন্দিত হই?

If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for that for which I give thanks?
31
অতএব তোমরা ভোজন, কি পান, কি যাহা কিছু কর, সকলই ঈশ্বরের গৌরবার্থে কর।

Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
32
কি যিহূদী, কি গ্রীক, কি ঈশ্বরের মণ্ডলী, কাহারও বিঘ্ন জন্মাইও না;
32
Give no occasions for stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;
33
যেমন আমিও সকল বিষয়ে সকলের প্রীতিকর হই, আপনার হিত চেষ্টা করি না, কিন্তু অনেকের হিত চেষ্টা করি, যেন তাহারা পরিত্রাণ পায়।

even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.

যেমন আমিও খ্রীষ্টের অনুকারী, তোমরা তেমনি আমার অনুকারী হও।

Choose Theme
